T30 Auto Trans "Clunk" between reverse and drive.

Hi all.

Done alot of searching and reading, and no confirmed matches to this.

an issue just emerged today, when in my t30, and selecting reverse from a standing start.

I hear and feel a loud "clunk" - that resembles someone tapping my bash plates with a spanner. this is accompanied by a sharp jaunt into gear.
I have driven gently since and kept driving to a minumum.

this also ocurrs when selecting drive, and also immediately after engine start (once only)

But NOT during automatic gear change.

I suspect this may be a solenoid valve somewhere.

Checked trans oil - no loss, and at corect level, and nice rich red. (changed about 20,000k ago.)

Not sure I want to push my luck driving to work with this, and have begun sourcing second hand replacements, as I rely on the vehicle heavily.

In summary - does this sound terminal - if not, can I swap the appropriate parts without removing the trans?

Re:

Currently researching service manual:

Page AT-211 referrs to fault "large shock N -> P position"
cites the line pressure solenoid as a possible culprit.
