Dash Cam...Unexpected Results...

Hello folks,

I installed two dash cams (front and rear) in my T31 about a month ago and it appears they're bringing about some quite positive but unexpected impact on my driving life:

1) Now that my behaviour behind the wheel is also being recorded instantly at the turn of the key, I find myself more attentive to the speed limit and more observant to road rules. I'm a calmer driver now and my fuel consumption seem to have improved too (8.2L/100 latest reading).

2) Absolutely hate being tailgated but the camera, a fairly visible model, mounted at the back has been seemingly acting as some sort of deterrent. Perhaps tailgaters are becoming more sensible around bayside Brisbane (where I live)? Or maybe I'm just lucky?

Anyone with dash cam installed pleeeeease share your experience...

Drive safe and take care,
Ben

Re: Dash Cam...Unexpected Results...

Dash cams can be a two-edged sword.

In the hands of the trained, conservative driver, they are an independent witness to the faults of others.

In the hands of a hoon, they hold evidence of the incompetence or stupidity of the owner.

I have a dashcam and sometimes save the files of unusual incidents it has captured, just for my own amusement.

E.g. last week there was a low flyover of an aircraft over the road with helicopter not far away but also in the picture frame.
Another time it recorded a motorcyclist threading the needle at 100kph+ in a 70 zone.

I bought mine after watching the car in front of me disconnect from its towed boat and trailer at 100kph on the highway - missed the mess by that much ( >-< ) !

However, I sometimes wonder how hard it would be to swallow the micro SD card should it ever be necessary emoticon

What micro SD card officer?? Haha. I wonder what powers Police have to take possession of the card anyway?

Mr DT your last comment certainly sent me to a good giggle.

I haven't captured any footage worth mentioning, but the rear camera has seen plenty of nose-pickers at traffic lights LOL...
