Re: SRS air bag warning light continually blinking

Thanks very much for this, Jalal. Saved me a sleepless weekend and then a trip to Nissan! emoticon

Hello had the issue this week after storing kids ipads under the seats. The reset process worked. Problem solved.

Re: SRS air bag warning light continually blinking

Recently had the same problem. 2 trips to service centre as both trips fixed the problem initially and it reoccurred.

Was told this alarm is a "hard" alarm, i.e. comes on and stays on even if the initial cause is rectified.

Seemed to happen if a corner was taken sharply for us.

The above fix work - thank you

Cheers

Hi Ben,

If it was just an accidental disconnection of any of the airbag wiring harness, the following re-set procedure will clear the flashing airbag warning. If it doesn't work, you should take the car to the dealership to trouble-shoot further:

1. Turn the key from off to on.
2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.
3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)
4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.
5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.
6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

Hi Jalal,

Just a quick note to say that you, Sir, are an absolute legend!

I'm about to register one of my XTrails, so it has to go through a blue slip inspection. I too started the car with one of the seats disconnected, and the "remove eng con" fuses method didn't work to reset the flashing SRS lamp.

I obviously didn't want to go driving all around the countryside in an unregistered & uninsured vehicle to get this issue reset by the stealership, and finding this thread saved my bacon.

Thanks heaps.

Cheers,
Adam

Just wanted to say that I'm so glad I came across this!

Had to remove the front driver's seat briefly - obviously needing to disconnect the cables underneath it for this. When I reinstalled it, I had the airbag warning light blinking constantly. I was almost certain that this would just be a check warning that an airbag was disconnected and reconnected but thought I'd have to take it to the dealer to check out. Called dealer and explained - they wanted to charge me a $155 (!!!!!) diagnostic fee to just look at the problem. Absolutely exorbitant.

Clearly nothing wrong with the airbags as this procedure reset the light for good - and saved me $155! Thank you jalalski!

Re: SRS air bag warning light continually blinking

Had the wife tell me about "some airbag man light" flashing in the dash today after i got home from work, so i tried the diagnostic on/off as mentioned by Jalalski and hey presto! no more airbag light. Cheers for that, it works like a charm.
