T31 Speaker replacements

Project: Front Speaker replacement
Finally I get the chance to upload some pictures with measurements. I totally recommend upgrading your audio system in Nissan Xtrail. You will feel the difference.

1- Opening the indoor cover
pics coming soon

2- Adapter/Spacer installation to avoid hitting the window glass when down. I bought a set of Aerpro 6.5" speaker spacers from supercheapautos for $12. You can build your own but it's probably gonna cost you more considering time and effort you have to put in. You need 4 self-tapping metal screws to fix these adapters to the door metal frame.

This is the space between the glass and where the speaker will sit.

I personally like Focal Speakers. I do not recommend changing the factory speakers to any brand you find on the market as many of the after market speakers you find in the stores sound the same or even worse. It's recommended to do your homework before you buy front door speakers. Focals were 65cm high

3- Cabling: I used the factory cables (Didn't have time), but if you got amplifier or love your music, I extremely suggest to change the wires to some sort of audiophile quality wires.

4- Crossover Box Fitting: I decided to find some place inside the door. Right behind the arm rest seemed to be enought space. Here is how it looks inside the door:

Also the space you got for bigger speakers

5- Tweeter Installation: tweeters are said to be installed up and directioned to your ears. I like them on the window triangle corner. managed to pass the cables between the gap of the triangle and the door cover.
