STARTING ISSUES

Hey all.

My issue is at start up, rather than trying to describe the prob i've posted a couple of vids at photobucket.

vid1
http://vid1272.photobucket.com/albums/y388/rizzos/1_zps74d34b4d.mp4
tried starting 3 times
1st - quick crank
2nd - longer crank
3rd - starts

vid2
http://vid1272.photobucket.com/albums/y388/rizzos/2_zps1a22b9fc.mp4
starts but then almost cuts out with no touch of the accelerator at all.

i have had the cam and crank sensors replaced (about a year ago), battery replaced (yesterday), no fuel smell, did an ECU reset (yesterday), diagnostic done with nissan reporting no issues but costing $150 (about a year ago), mechanic advises i will need to send the computer to Nissan Melbourne to diagnose further.

I'm hoping by reading this forum and with the help of you guys i will put an end to this issue once and all.

cheers in advance.

Re: STARTING ISSUES

Check the fuel pressure from the fuel pump (probably an electric in the fuel tank). Sounds to me like it possibly may not be working anymore - especially since you've tried other things.

You may need a specialist or the Nissan dealer to confirm, unless someone here can advise.

Carl,
You have to tell us what model X Trail you have for us to get a better idea of what's happening.

Re: STARTING ISSUES

translucidus - thanks for the info, but can you advise how i go about this? or provide a link? (im struggling with the search function) or is it best to leave up to the pros? i'm happy to try, im just sick of being ripped off without any further progress.

all - is there an xtrail t30 list of 10 commandments to follow?
eg:
- thou shall not pour the wrong coolant or oil (listing correct coolant and oil)
- thou shall replace cam and crank sensors together

btw, im not looking to open up a can of worms just to get a one stop shop of general info.

cheers

Re: STARTING ISSUES

Hi all I'm having a fairly similar issue at present. Only on cold starts and especially the morning start the engine cranks, fires and almost dies with no throttle and then begins the idle up/down warm up process. I'm in a 2002 ST running 2007 QR25 (owing to a failed big end bearing) 240'ish K on the body/drive train and 150'ish km on the engine. I have ordered CPS and O2 sensors to replace the current parts. Was half wondering about the fuel/pump filter, but being an in-tank version I want to make changing this the last resort.

Cheers, Dave

*** edit, I have noticed the start issues are more pronounced on cold mornings
