The other ramifications are the effects on the ABS, Traction control (it will think wheels are constantly slipping), Electronic Brake for Distribution (same as for TC), and Electronic Stability Control. They will all probably have a "hissy fit". The Manual specifically warns against non-standard wheels and tire sizes and also says that the car detects even Tire Wear in relation to the above mentioned systems so it is quite sensitive/touchy. A T31 is the last car I would ever fit staggered wheel sizes on - it would be a disaster and a BIG Insurance claim waiting to happen! If they run AWD, they are also the ones looking for a replacement transmission. No 4wd (that I am aware of) allows different rolling radius on the wheels. Even running a different brand of tyre to the same specs but different rolling radius may be enough to grind your gearbox or differential into paste. There is previous for this simple error on this forum.nondisclosed_email@example.com (DogTrail)Tue, 22 Jul 2014 23:35:37 +0000 Re: running staggered sized wheels and tyres on t31 TL 4wdhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2084215,from=rss#post2084215https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2084215,from=rss#post2084215ah..as i thought. You will cause transmission wind up. It's OK as a temporary measure to get you home but doing it full time will certainly cause issues.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Toddyh03)Mon, 21 Jul 2014 13:27:15 +0000 running staggered sized wheels and tyres on t31 TL 4wdhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2084207,from=rss#post2084207https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2084207,from=rss#post2084207Does anyone know whether it would be o.k to run staggered wheels and tyres? I know the x-trail runs primarily in 2wd (front) so it may not be a problem but just wanted to know if there will be issues with the 4wd system. There are a few Japanese t31 owners running staggered sizes but its abit hard to identify whether they have 4wd or 2wd versions of the t31. Any help with this would be appreciated.
