New Cooper CS5 Touring Tyres

Hi Guys,

I just got informed by the Cooper Tyres represenative that the tyre model Cooper CS5 Touring is now available for our Exy

It is not yet listed on their website, but a formal announcement about it was made in May in the US (read article HERE)

Not sure if it'll be more expensive than the current CS4 variant, but am checking that at the moment.

Here is a photo of the new CS5

The new CS5 Cooper tyres will be $26 bucks dearer per tyre than the current CS4s, but according to the reports from the US will be far superior.

and the CS4 is being superseded by the CS5, so it's not just an addition to the range:

Holy crap, is that what I have to look forward to pay. And I thought the Honda tyres were expensive.
Is $300 about the average price of all brands or are Cooper at the upper end in price.

Re: New Cooper CS5 Touring Tyres

I just fitted a set of CS5s today - $197 ea at the local Bridgestone dealer.

Even on the drive home they were noticeably quieter than the Bridgestones I had on previously. That might just be because there's more rubber between me and the road. I'm looking forward to testing them out on a trip to the Sunshine coast in a couple of weeks

Re:

That price is considerably cheaper than what most Cooper dealers have quoted me last month! Are you sure they're the CS5 and not CS4s? emoticon

Hang on a sec, yours are 16" tyres correct? The price I have displayed above is for the 18" T31 tyres, so that could be the difference.

Re:

What were the long term results of the CS4? Ive read plenty of threads here where people have discussed them, and a couple that have purchased them, but have seen little or no long term data.

How many kms?
Traction?
Noise?
Handling?
Punctures?

When a manufacturer brings out an updated spec, and supersedes the old one, it makes me very nervous that they have "fixed" a number of faults or had some issues with the previous generation.

The old adage don't buy the first of a new model comes to mind here.

Id certainly want some real world evidence of how they perform before buying any.
