Is 130,000k on a used 2011 TS Diesel bad?
I am currently in the process of trying to find a good used car to buy.
I found a 2011 series IV TS manual with 130,000kms on it and was wondering is this a large number of kms for the year?
I dont know what it was used for before, so should I be worried?
I am trying to get it for 17k.
There are no log books....should i be worried about that?
The Check Engine Light is on, but could it just be because he needed his jump starter to start it. I was there when he tried to start it dead cold. But it might not be the first time he has needed to jump it. Or could the battery be going? Would the CEL come on with a battery ready to die? Or flat battery?
I dont know much about the newer cars (OBDII) to know how they all tick.
I took it for a drive and the clutch seemed fine. AFAIK. I did engage auto 4x4 mode and it lost a little power. But in 2WD mode it still puts me in my chair when i give it some.
So, do you guys and gurls think I should pursue it?
Thanks
Simon.

Re:
That is a lot of k's for that year. Mine is at 66000kms and that's with lots of highway travel. When my check engine light came on, it was for the EGR valve but could be anything. The mechanics on the forum can tell you more. A service history would be important. There was a recall for that model for the heat shield which was easily fixed. If it has been serviced at the dealer, they should have records of the services and recall on their system even if the owner doesn't have the logs.

Have a look here. The later pages apply to the Series 3 model.

High mileage, flat battery, seller knows nothing, no logbooks, no history, check engine light is on.
Not a good start.
I suggest that unless you can easily discover its full and complete history - Run as fast and far as you can.
Don't look back.
Probably owned by that South African Prince who worked on an oil well and was unable to easily dispose of his family fortune but used that car for his family to drive around Australia until they all moved to Malaysia..
Edit: that applies to a private sale.
If you have the normal protections of buying from a registered Dealer...at least you will have title but make sure you get at least a 3 month warranty.
High mileage on these touchy diesels is not such a bad thing - except the engine light is on and the Dealer is pretending ignorance. $10k for a replacement motor?
On the given information, it still smells .... wait, I'll look twice ... and tastes like a dodgy prawn.

Re: Re:
Too late....
After asking everybody around me, and on here.....and due to the fact that i want to stop throwing money on my 97 Kia Sportage, i went and put a holding deposit on it.
Organised RACQ to do an inspection on it.. so will wait to see what they have to say. I think they also read the codes.
I rang one nissan seller and tried to get a service history, but they only have the details on cars they have serviced. So i asked the sales guy before committing to it who used to own it. It turns out a company used to own it. So a sales rep or manager may have had it. Explains the mileage. The battery could be from some thing bad, or it could be the original from factory when new (3yrs old now). RACQ will check it out. Will probably need replacing or a good charge.
Got him down to $17k drive away.
He also told me it was serviced at another nissan, so tomorrow i will ring that place and see what i can find out. He could have told me that the other day. If it turns out hogwash, then i might need to exit the contract based on the cooling off period. Will need to think about it when the time comes.
So how many manual diesel xtrails did nissan sell out of there t31 sIII or IV lineup? QLD had only 2 used for sale. 2010 & 2011. Did they not sell many, or are the current owners still keeping them.
..edit update...rang the dealer at the other place and due to privacy laws, she couldn't tell me the service history. Only that it had the 120,000k service. And it has had the recall done. Only after buying the car can i hit them up about the full service history.
A little relieved.
