Regarding the "delay":

The delay in D to R etc I believe, is caused to some extent by the above and to a greater extent by dropped oil feed pressure to the shifting mechanism inside the gear box after vehicle has stopped for more than about 1 second. This is most probably caused by the engine revs dropping to idle and therefore the hydraulic pump slowing to idle. Note that the hydraulic pump that provides pressure to operate the CVT is driven by a sprocket and chain directly from the engine.

The D to R or R to D is instantaneous if the shifter is moved immediately the vehicle has stopped - stop for more than a second and the hydraulic pressure from the transmission oil pump needs to be restored and this takes a moment.

All the above is very stable and not worsening in my T31 and seems completely normal now I am used to it. You can't compare a CVT to a regular automatic that has planetary gears and clutches. They shift faster from D to R but drive nowhere near as smooth as a CVT or have such a wide spread from low to high gearing.

Relax and enjoy your car as it is a very sophisticated piece of machinery and electronics.

Well I tried the above method of shifting immediately after the vechile has stopped and found no difference, still a delay between D & R engaging.

There is some perceived difference in delay when you quickly shift the gear, before the vehicle stops, i am not sure the delay could be fully eliminated though

My 2011 /12 T31 does the same.

Mine takes about the same time as counting 'one thousand and one' for take-up after shifting from neutral. i.e 1 second - but it always seems longer at the time.

Zero elapsed time (except for the gulp of air & fuel) of course if you happen to be in Drive or manual at the time.

That slight delay does seem to be normal for that transmission.

Best way to test is to sit it stationary in neutral on flat ground & without the brake, then drop it into drive without using the accelerator.

You should feel the transmission pick up and engage ('one thousand and one' slowly ~1 second), then it will idle forward for you.

Try that out & see how yours behaves emoticon

exactly the same as mine

Excellent.

Working as designed.

There is no problem

Re: Time delay of about 1.5 sec before car start moving - from Drive to Reverse gear and vice versa

As I said, if I move shifter from D to R or vice versa as my car comes to a stop it immediately shifts. This may or may not be peculiar to my car.
Any pause at all and the delay happens.
Still nowhere near as fast as a regular auto transmission but that is somewhat irrelevant for potential fault comparison as the design is totally different.
This delay makes "rocking" the car (D to R to D to R) to get out of a bog almost impossible.
