(Me) Bogged in the sand at Inskip Point

I went for a run up to Inskip Point late last year and while I was there I went exploring all the tracks that provide access to the camp sites. Exciting times for me, as I was never able to even consider doing that in the Tiida, but now I have the X-Trail it's possible.

After getting a bit of confidence on the sandy tracks, I decided to go up the track to the MV Natone campground. It was a bit rutted but I managed to get up and over the hill. On the way down the hill, I bottomed out a bit, but pushed through and down the hill thinking "Well, I'm certainly not gonna be able to reverse back out of here, so hopefully it gets better ...". It didn't get better. In fact, the bottom of the hill was very soft and rutted and the exy just slid in on her belly and that was that.

Thankfully, Inskip Point being as popular as it is, it wasn't long before a couple of young blokes came along to help me out.

Going forward was going to be difficult as the track gets much worse before it gets better, but we thought we'd see how we went. Attempts to snatch me out forward failed terribly, and in the end the boys decided it might be easier if they went right around and pulled me out backwards. So off they went and then reversed up the track and over the hill to me so they could pull me out. Happy days!

Anyway, here's a bit of footage scraped together from my DVR of the event.

Re:

Pretty well bogged there, just out of interest, what tyre pressures were you running at that time?

Cheers

Re:

Well that was most likely where I failed, Mants. I didn't have the pressure down much (mid-high 20s) as I was on and off the bitumen so often. emoticon
