If so and I remember correctly then this could be too much weight for it with the bike. You remember right for the Heavy Duty Class4 50mm Hayman Reese 1895R towbar. Not sure about the OEM Nissan 40mm bar.... Not at all too much weight with a modern trail bike...the carrier is about 30kg in heavy steel, but could be made lighter, maybe even 20Kg-ish with aluminium. That leaves 125kg for a bike. WR450 is 123Kg 'wet' fully fuelled. Other enduros and 250's would be even less. My Dakar is known to be a heavy pig and its 193Kg on the scales, real world. I also consider there's some 'safety factor' in that 150Kg figure, and its not engineered to that finer tolerance that 10% extra is going to break it. So I'd be happy to put 165Kg on it. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Wiz Au)Wed, 05 Sep 2018 23:37:55 +0000 Re: Members Motorbikeshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2096110,from=rss#post2096110https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2096110,from=rss#post2096110Isn't the max towball weight for the Xtrail only 150kg ? I was faced with a split second decision to either take an oncoming car head-on or steer the bike towards the ditch and hope for the best. The ditch was my choice and I tried very hard to stabilize the bike but hit a huge rock that threw off the bike big time. Thanks to my riding gear and helmet I only walked (crawled) away with minor injuries to my legs and no broken bones. Ended up with a couple of stitches on my left leg but apart from that am lucky to survive this. The Sprint ST 955i is pretty smashed up and am waiting for the insurance assessment to come through. 2 by Australian XTRAIL Forum Nissan, on Flickr I did buy a replacement bike last week and it's the 2015 Sprint GT in exactly the same Caspian Blue colour like my old bike. 26854730_10214565110782494_774752432_o by Australian XTRAIL Forum Nissan, on Flickr 26853087_10214565114342583_1163081940_o by Australian XTRAIL Forum Nissan, on Flickr 26828606_10214565113302557_874643660_o by Australian XTRAIL Forum Nissan, on Flickr I'm taking it easy at the moment and overcoming my mental scars more than my physical ones and things have started to brighten up once again, which is a good sign.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Sat, 13 Jan 2018 10:41:20 +0000 Re: Towbar motorbike carrierhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2094229,from=rss#post2094229https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2094229,from=rss#post2094229If anyone wants the plans to self build a hitch mounted motorcycle carrier, PM me. In the year that I had it and the weekend rides that I have done with it, it put a huge smile on my face every single time but at the end I thought it'd be a waste for it to stay in the garage when the bulk of my riding is now done on the Sprint and even more so when my wife is now riding with me as pillion.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Sun, 03 May 2015 09:52:34 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2087666,from=rss#post2087666https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2087666,from=rss#post2087666My Ride, until recently was a Honda Valkyrie This bike is a souped up Honda Goldwing without all the plastic panels, 6 cylinders, 6 carbys, and a slightly changed gearbox. 1.5 litres of grunt in a flat 6 Handles far better than you would expect due to the fact that all the weight is below the riders knees I can keep up with sports bikes for a suprisingly long time, only to fall back in some serious curves.
