Re: *NEW T30 RECALL*Airbag Inflator*

here is the latest on airbag recall, received letter from Nissan confirming the removal of passenger bag however, this replacement must be replaced as soon as Nissan initiates an active recall, this will be on or before 31 march 2019 as set out in the Nissan recall schedule that was published 2 July 2018 at www.nissan,com.au/takata.

Got mine too.

It is funny though when you read the introductory sentence where they say that although they replaced the airbag before it needs replacing again emoticon

Re: *NEW T30 RECALL*Airbag Inflator*

Well I'm royally pissed off because I called Nissan,, gave them my VIN, checked that although I had RA40 recall done I still needed it redone because they replaced a faulty module with another faulty module, and they said "NO". They told me everything was fine and my car was not included in this recall.

Now I get letter advising the PASSENGER airbag needs replacing!

I swear, they have no idea what they are doing. I think I'm going to insist BOTH airbags are replaced...

The original airbag recall was for the passenger airbag also, just a different piece as you stated earlier.

Found this from motoring.com.au
Are some manufacturers replacing faulty airbags ‘like for like’?
The short answer to this is yes. In some cases, new airbags of the same design and manufacture are being used. This has been allowed because a key factor in the failure of the airbags is age.

“The data NHTSA has collected unequivocally points to the age of the inflator as being a critical factor in the likelihood of rupture. An older inflator is more likely to rupture than a newer version of the same inflator. Therefore, replacing the older inflator with a newer version reduces the safety risk associated with your vehicle until a final remedy inflator can be produced and installed. All owners that have an interim remedy applied will still be offered a free final remedy inflator and should be sure to have that repair done as well.”

I'm not sure if this has already been pointed out on here somewhere, but you can check if any of your vehicles are involved in this recall by typing in your number plate and state at " ismyairbagsafe.com.au". Probably still best to check with" Productsafety.gov.au/recalls"
