Limp mode auto petrol 2010model

Hi everyone,
A lot of the feedback is from diesel autos and Would like to hear from anyone with a petrol auto.
We had our first limp mode experience when mileage was 45000ks in November last year in our 2010 model petrol auto.. Nissan workshop told us that the computer could not find a fault reading. No problems since then, until last week when it went into limp mode in a very busy highway intersection this time towing a caravan. Car looses all power, engages in one gear and crawls forward. The motor is fine, not overheating at all. Taken on truck to nearest Nissan workshop, where the electric brake switch was declared the fault and at the cost of$800, a new one was installed, this one apparently a genuine Nissan part. The next day towing the van and 2 hours up the road the same thing. My husband feels that it is more the transmission than the motor. We were hoping to start our trip around OZ, but at the moment too frightened to drive our almost brand new car further than the mail box at the front gate!
Regards
Marge

Hi Marge,
Check the reversing light fuse as suggested in this thread.
Then get the wiring on your van checked too.
