Cooloola National Park - Sunday, April 7th

Hi Guys & Gals,

A bit of a short notice, myself and family are heading up from the Gold Coast on a mini holiday to Caloundra on Saturday April 6th, returning home on Tuesday 9th.
I am planning to check out Cooloola National Park across the Noosa River in Tewantin and thought I’d post this and see if anyone would like to come along for the day.
On Sunday April 7th, the stars will align for a perfect low tide of 0.43 m at 12.10Pm, meaning 9.30 – 10.00am would be perfect time to hit the beach.

Access is on the Noosa North Shore Ferry http://www.noosacarferries.com/ located at the end of Moorindal Street, Tewantin. Price is $6.00 each way. The trip across the river only takes a few minutes and the ferry departs on demand. I called them and they assured me that no booking is requierd.
A Vehicle beach permit is required which is best to get online in advance here http://nprsr.qld.gov.au/recreation-areas/vehicle_access_permit_fees.html

Looking at the most updated reports on the QLD National Parks website http://nprsr.qld.gov.au/parks/cooloola/pdf/cooloola-conditions-report.pdf , the access tracks and defiantly inland tracks can be rough with soft sand and exposed rocks.

I’m sure that no one would like to come home with any damage, so I would suggest getting onto the beach driving up north, stopping for lunch / swim etc. and head back in the afternoon.

Meeting point will be at the ferry (end of Moorindal Street, Tewantin) at 9.15am

****Important disclaimer, please read the event rules before coming on this trip. They can be viewed HERE

Add your name below to join us on this day out.

Good idea..

It is a easy ride on the beach with optional challenges on the soft bits.

In the back of my mind - Is there a dog exclusion zone there?

G'day Ty,

not too sure if I can make it at this point in time but I just sent an email to everyone on my list so hopefully you might get enough for a good day out.

Re:

G'day everyone!

I was there last month, spent the weekend on Rainbow Beach and drove along the Cooloola National Park. Great spot, great each drive and wonderful weekend.

I have an appointment on 7th of April, but I try to cancel it. I'd like to stay overnight at Rainbow Beach so Saturday 6th would suit me best, if there isn't any chance to change the date I try to sort something out.

Surfie, have you ever considered stay one or two night at Rainbow Beach? Heaps of beautiful beaches to see over there!

At this stage I can't confirm yet, but I would say 90% of chance I'm attending!

Re:

One more thing.

I'm not sure which inland track you meant, but the one connecting Rainbow Beach to the beach is easy and not dangerous at all! There are others that can be tricky though.

Thanks Jamie.
Not sure about a dog exclusion zone.

Rodrigo, unfortunately Saturday would not suit us as it's the day I'm going to leave home. So to be at Noosa at 9.15 I'll have to leave early morning. I would like to break the trip up for the kids. We have our accommodation booked at Caloundra, so staying at Rainbow Beach is not an option.

Would love to see you.

Re:

I'll have to check the diary...but at this stage definitely interested. This will be our first trek off road. Is is a pretty straight forward drive?

Cheers,
Mark

Re:

That's great Rodrigo.
Mark, I haven't been there before. We will need to take care on the access track for rocks, tree roots etc.
Once on the beach it's straight forward drive that in some cases you will able to do in 2WD.
I have some recovery gear (snatch strap, MAXTRAX) just in case.

I will add you as tentative.
