Re: New Photobucket - Clickable Thumbs

I have a feeling that photobucket have specifically changed the link to get more traffic onto their website.. more traffic means more potential advertising revenue...

If this is the case I doubt they will change it back.

Chris is correct and I got the following reply back from PhotoBucket Support:

Hello,
We recently made changes to how images are displayed when opening an image that is linked. Linked out images (with the exception of HTML) are now brought back to Photobucket to be displayed. They will no longer open directly to the image in a separate, blank window.
The only code that will not return back to the site is the HTML code, and only if you have turned off the "link back to albums" setting in your User Settings, under the Albums tab. If you are a Free account holder, the images will then redirect to the Photobucket homepage. If you are a Pro/Plus account holder, images linked out by the HTML code will not direct, and it will simply display the image where it is embedded, without an option to click on that image.
With users being directed back to the site to view the image, they may have access to your albums and/or account, if they are not password protected or private. If your albums are private/password protected, the user will only be able to view the one image on the site, and cannot access any other images or pages in your account.
There are two ways you can change the privacy of your albums:
The first is by changing the album settings in your User Settings, under the privacy tab. http://photobucket.zendesk.com/entries/21101396
The second way is to change the setting in your album view. http://photobucket.zendesk.com/entries/22391041
These privacy changes will ensure that users cannot navigate through your albums, and will only have access to the image they are viewed that was linked out.
Thank you,

Re: New Photobucket - Clickable Thumbs

What a giant pain that is. I'm not concerned about privacy of folders. The photos are there to be looked at. It's just annoying that the photos are so small.

so HTML will be this:
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh586/parrafooty/Hunter%20Range/IMGP0610_zpseaade22c.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMGP0610_zpseaade22c.jpg"/></a>

HTML Thumb:
<a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh586/parrafooty/Hunter%20Range/th_IMGP0610_zpseaade22c.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMGP0610_zpseaade22c.jpg"></a>

Neither of these are any use for this forum.

Direct Link (this works but no one can see a small version of the photo before they click):
http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh586/parrafooty/Hunter%20Range/IMGP0610_zpseaade22c.jpg

IMG Code (just gives you a small, non-clickable image):
[IMG]http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh586/parrafooty/Hunter%20Range/IMGP0610_zpseaade22c.jpg[/*IMG]
Image

IMG Thumb (as discussed take you to the album rather than single picture):
[IMG]http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh586/parrafooty/Hunter%20Range/th_IMGP0610_zpseaade22c.jpg[/*IMG][/*URL]
Image

and of course the amended IMG thumb where the Direct Link code is used for part (this works as the old clickable thumb did but requires you to copy two links to make the one):
[IMG]http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh586/parrafooty/Hunter%20Range/th_IMGP0610_zpseaade22c.jpg[/*IMG][/*URL]
Image

all * have been inserted so link addresses are visible

Re: New Photobucket - Clickable Thumbs

I know there are no issues with privacy but to make life easier for posting, maybe we just make the albums private because any pics we want to share will be posted separately anyway.

Re: New Photobucket - Clickable Thumbs

All changing the privacy settings does is mean you can't access the rest of the album. Doesn't give a bigger picture when you click. So again it's pointless.

Re:

That's right Todd, it's pointless indeed and I am using the xtrail admin account to share photos, so all my photos in that account are public anyway, so I don't have to worry about security.

Not being able to see the photos in full size is what buggs me now!
