Re:

I am having a very similar noise coming from my car, only usually as I'm pulling into a driveway (so turning but also braking so weight is transferred forward). Had it up on hoists and the mechanic agreed it appears to be the sway bar, nothing else appeared to be worn or moving. Very interested to see what others come up with.

Re:

Hello again.

Replaced the swaybar-links yesterday and that seemed to solve the problem.
Decided to try this because the parts are cheap and it's an easy procedure, allthough loosening the nut on the "strut-end" was.....well. Had to use the metal grinder on it.
There's a plastic cover on these bolts, and in my opinion this makes the bolt rust even more as moist and water is trapped inside this cover. In wintertime up here they use a lot of salt on the roads making the problem even worse.
I could actually feel there were some play in the old links.
Installing the new ones took 30 mins. Just remember to raise the car on both sides when doing this to release the tension on the sway bar/link.
Anyway, the front end seems to be tight now and no 'cluncks' when running over bumps.

Haven't found too many similar experiences with this on the web, allthough I did read some threads in a few Qashqai-forums regarding links wearing out early.
My T31 is from 2008 so I guess I will be one of the first experiencing how the car "ages" :-/

Suspension update

Updating the story:
Less hassle to replace control arm than press out/replace bushes.
The rubber in the pivot bush is showing definate signs of deterioration.
Rear control arm bushes (both sides) perished.

Rattle in suspension gone, however, knock still there.
Will replace swaybar links next.
Rack and strut to be investigated if not cured.
