banjo`s

hi, i am going to change my rear calipers on my exxy, looking through the service history they seem to be a problem part.
the flexi brake pipes are bolted to the caliper with banjo bolts.
i have a pair of calipers ready to go on, i just had a look and thought i had better order some new banjo bolts incase they snap when taking the old ones out.
things rust here in the u.k
i intend to pack the sliders full of coppaslip, and do this every 6 months.
i ordered 6 banjos and the copper washers, for info for anyone they are m10x1.0pitch
about 20 to 30 long of thread will be ok.
i will fit probably tuesday when the bolts arrive.
the old calipers i can re-build with a kit.
cheers.
ian

Hi Ian,
I had similar thoughst on my front calipers. I have been told by many with more knowledge than me NOT to use any copper grease on the pistons. You must only use clean brake fluid.
The copper grease can contaminate your fluid and you'll need to do a full brake fluid change.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Cheers
Sean

Re: banjo`s

hi sean,
thanks for the reply mate, however you mistake me.
the coppaslip is only in the slider pins to keep them greased. obviously when i rebuild the origonal calipers the pistons will only be inserted with clean brake fluid.
the slider pins never come in contact with the brake fluid.
cheers.

Re: banjo`s

hi again sean,
and your right mate, it seems that the coppaslip even in the sliders might melt,
so doing some internet research, i should be using silicone grease which is water resistant and heat resistant.
i will get some tomorrow.
thanks again.
ian.
