I have two 17 inch genuine nissan rims with 225/60/17 tyres as spares and the spare in the vehicle fits perfectly in the tyre well with the unused Yokohoma Geolander A/T G12 tyre fully inflated to 36psi. The vehicle was purchased in August 2010 (series 2) and came with 215/60/17 tyres as standard on the vehicle with the 80kph metal space save spare...which I got rid of when I went up a size. The 225/60/17 was the maximum legal size then in NSW but regulation changes since then now allow 225/65/17. As this thread is title "17" spare options" then I assume you are talking about 17" rims which as stated above fit. So are you talking about the larger 225/65/17 tyres that wont fit it tyre well if fully inflated??? because the 225/60/17 tyres do fit. nondisclosed_email@example.com (dlpeek)Thu, 12 Feb 2015 06:01:40 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086848,from=rss#post2086848https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086848,from=rss#post2086848For those of us who have taken the time to do our maths & calculate tyre profiles to correct the factory speedo error, a genuine rim with the correct tyre size inflated, will not fit in the spare tyre space. The factory spare isn't even a joke. It's an abomination! Seriously, an 80km/h speed limited passenger tyre on the best SUV in it's class!! What was Nissan thinking? The cost of production between a real tyre and what Nissan fitted at the factory would be less than $5.   nondisclosed_email@example.com (Charlie250)Wed, 11 Feb 2015 23:59:40 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086535,from=rss#post2086535https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086535,from=rss#post2086535I've got 2 spare rims and 6 AT tyres for sale if you want to have a look. Wondering if anyone has done this already to a T32 and if it fit into the spare wheel well? As the ST, it is the 17" wheels with 225/65/17 tyres. I assume I am going to lose the under cargo tray storage area.. Also, and others may know the answer to this, do I need to put a 17x7 wheel or can I do the 17x6.5 and a narrower tyre if that makes the difference in fitting it in? Did the floor mat fit flush with no bulging when you fitted a full size 18" alloy & tyre at normal pressure? Your answer above did not indicate one way or another whether the fitment affected the mats & floor. If the mats & floor "bulge", then the sliding drawers will not fit or operate as per normal & the spare wheel cover/floor will not lock down properly. Looks like it may (not) run on mine, haha. I might try deflating it and see how I go as I do always have a mini compressor wherever I go. Ill have to wait a couple of weeks to try it though, no driving, lifting or much at all at the moment as I just had a knee op on Monday.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mulga)Thu, 17 Apr 2014 14:09:31 +0000 Re: 17" spare optionshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2082552,from=rss#post2082552https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2082552,from=rss#post2082552I had a 225/65/17 in my spare wheel well. Just a cheapie spare that hopefully would rarely if ever get used but better than the stupid space saver. I was told they were owned by or had something to do with Yokohama, could have been bs though. Either way the sidewalls are wider than the Dunlop of the same specs. Bummer. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mulga)Thu, 17 Apr 2014 11:32:51 +0000 Re: 17" spare optionshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2082540,from=rss#post2082540https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2082540,from=rss#post2082540Jon, we still don't know what size tyre you purchased (except that its 17") or what brand. But as it was just for a spare I only got a $150 one instead of the Dunlop. The tyre itself looks ok but the width of the actual sidewall is a cm wider each side meaning the cover wont sit down flush. It sits up and you cant close the thing down. Iv had tyres on other cars where the sidewalls were a little wider than others even though the dimensions for tread width and height were the same and had no probs with spares fitting in the spare space area. I guess they had plenty of room for small differences. Not so apparently with the X Trail. I did my money and have to get another tyre with the exact same sidewall width as the Dunlops. Trouble was when I got it I didn't check then and there if it fitted. Such is life.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mulga)Wed, 16 Apr 2014 17:08:23 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2082497,from=rss#post2082497https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2082497,from=rss#post2082497I didn't have this problem fitting a full size 18" alloy wheel and tyre in the back on my Ti Full/normal tyre pressure as well.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Tue, 15 Apr 2014 23:02:58 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2082485,from=rss#post2082485https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2082485,from=rss#post2082485Dave, the 225/65/17 fits if it's deflated to 7 psi or something like that. It won't fit if fully inflated to highway pressure. A couple of reasons there why I got a wheel carrier for the spare. nondisclosed_email@example.com (nananut)Tue, 15 Apr 2014 22:03:20 +0000 Re: 17" spare optionshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2082481,from=rss#post2082481https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2082481,from=rss#post2082481Jon, I have a genuine alloy 17 inch rim with 225/60/17 tyre as a spare and it fits perfectly. Yeah the 17 will fit the spare section but you gotta get the exact width tyre. The specs on my spare I got were the same as the ones on the Xt but the sidewalls sit out just a fraction more and the cargo cover now wont sit flat. What a waste of money the tyre was, now I gotta spend more on one with the "exact" same width walls. The space saver given for a car that has 4wd ability is lame as. Watch the actual width of the fitted tyres sidewalls.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mulga)Tue, 15 Apr 2014 12:48:42 +0000 Re: 17" spare optionshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2081548,from=rss#post2081548https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2081548,from=rss#post2081548Have tried to find a cheap second spare 17" rim for my X-trail 2009 TS in Brisbane with no luck. I only need a rim as I have a spare tyre. Apparently none have been wrecked here lately! Can anybody tell me what other models of Nissans or other manufacturers that would have ordinary 17" steel rims that are compatible? Presently my car has alloy wheels with Hankang C-20 light truck tyres size 215/R17c 104/107N. These ride beautifully and are very quiet. Any old steel wheel that will fit will do as it will be only an emergency standby. Did they ever make ordinary steel wheels for my model X-Trail? I will be towing a camper trailer from Brisbane to Darwin via the top end and feel happier with a second car spare as I will be traveling over some rough stuff. I'm 78 and a bit too old to repair a tyre in the middle of nowhere! nondisclosed_email@example.com (tedsmithau)Thu, 13 Mar 2014 17:05:01 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2075002,from=rss#post2075002https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2075002,from=rss#post2075002Hey Dave, Thanks for that - but I ended up getting a 17" steel one, which fits perfectly. No idea from what Nissan car it was from (probably a Murano). Maybe if i see a cheaper one, i'll consider it, but $330 vs my current steel one... happy to use steel for now.nondisclosed_email@example.com (konazz)Sat, 15 Jun 2013 23:22:15 +0000 Re: 17" spare optionshttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2074890,from=rss#post2074890https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2074890,from=rss#post2074890Hey Michael, There's a couple on ebay at the moment. Fancy a trip to Melbourne to pick them up? Item number: 181155844402 FYI - I picked up a 17" genuine T31 alloy rim from Nissan 4WD wreckers today that I will use as a full size spare. Has anyone tried other rims manufacturers? The RAV4 steel 17"x6.5 or Territory 17"x6.5 (or 7) have similar offsets (+42 / +36.5 respectively) and the 114.3x5 stud patters Curious to know what others have done. Hoping to pick up an X-trail alloy for a full size spare, and a second 17" rim for a secondary spare (outback trip).
