Re: The Monster
quote: Are you finally starting the work we were talking about last time we caught up?

Haha, honestly, I can't even remember back that far Tony. Was this when we had a lengthy chat at your house? I've had so many crazy ideas since buying this car, I can't even keep up. But mostly these days they are a bit more realistic, albeit no less difficult :/ I am currently in the process of removing the entire spare wheel well, as thanks to my tyre size it has become obsolete, is bulky and just serves as an obstacle to other mods. I will be replacing it with a sheet of 1.6mm steel(cross-braced) to give me a stronger boot floor to work with, and a far less obtrusive rear end. This whole mod however, is merely step one

Re:
Yeah it was at my place when you picked up the mattress.
There was talk about using a Jeep 7 slot grill and fitting it to the Exy, also there was talk about an X ROX bar.
Jot your memory now.

Re:
Ohhh yep. Didn't bother with the grille as I painted mine black and it'll only get scratched, ha. My entire front end is chipped, dented, scratched and marked from bugs, stones and overgrown bush anyway. Xrox style bar is definitely still in the works though. Was talking with Todd about that just recently; the only obstacle to that mod is the windscreen washer bottle (and of course, ADR's and the RTA)

Re:
So I bit the bullet (and my own tongue) and went through with it.
I had some help though..
And the finished product, ready to be welded on Wednesday.

Re: The Monster
Looks good mate.
I'm sorry for this.... while you have the big hole there is it not the perfect time to run a proper rear diff breather? I can see it in the first photo.

Re:
Recently added an awning, as I was sick of setting up camp in the sun. Comes in handy on the beach too (also for unexpected rain, as I found out this weekend) :/
I also gave the front bumper a bit of a face-lift, which has been great for clearance off-road. Well and truly proved worthwhile this weekend out in the Watagans and Ourimbah SF. I like the look too, much less suburban, etc.
Also had some fun this weekend. Love that my exy is truly one of a kind.
And here's a current pic of my xtrail, as of 5mins ago.

Re: The Monster
I like the bumper. Looks great. Welcome to the awning club. so good to have and it sets up so quickly. Does yours have an LED light strip built into it? if not DO IT!!! Cheap to do and makes a great difference at night.
Did you check the depth of the bog hole first haha
