Going to make my own, Todd! I don't much like the obtrusive look of most brands when it comes to the snorkel head, particularly against the nice lines of an exy. I have to everything the difficult way, obviously..

Re: T31 Air intake upgrades & modifications

Chad/Ian have a read of the snorkel thread under int/ext accessories and mods section. Or for a more brief version have a look at my ride on the link below.
there is no off the shelf snorkel for either xtrail but there is one that fits the T30 very close on the outside of the panel at least.

Re: T31 Air intake upgrades & modifications : K&N Typhoon Kit

Hi Guys,

I am looking at getting a CAI system and been reading through 50 pages on the post but it was for the T30!!

Not much info for the T31 systems on the forum albeit Jalal mentionned shoul dbe similar to the 2007-2012 Sentra Spec V...

Did anyone installed a CAI on their T31?

On my side I found a K&N one which looks nice with maybe the best of 2 worlds with the oem air intake ducting and the direct K&N air intake system with the heat shield. The filter sits much higher from the ground ( and potential water level) than the other CAI I have seen on the T30.

Dyno Charts

There is a Dyno Chart available for that kit and showing [sign in to see URL] hp gain.

If that is real than we could except even more gain in similar conditions as the dyno done above shows that the stock car was tested with outside temparature of 21.9 deg Celcius while the test with teh K&N kit was done at 35 deg Celcius!!

Re: T31 Air intake upgrades & modifications

One thing Jalal and I experienced with the CAI on our T30's was that the stock ECU could not handle the higher airflow of a combined CAI and high-flow exhaust so it used more fuel.

We ended getting a Haltech piggy-back fitted to tune the fuel maps which not only brough fuel usage back to reasonable levels but also gave us a small extra gain in power.

Depending on how different the fuel maps are in the T31 ECU, you might find the same thing.
