Another mid-life crisis adventure
Well, it's been a dream of mine for almost 30+ years and I could never get around to fulfilling it due to one reason or another and then I got married and the wife was categorically against it, so I had to shelf the dream all this time until last weekend
Your fearless "President" got his motorbike "L"s and about to start shopping around for a nice learner bike
The guys at the learning centre were pretty amazed that I passed, considering I have never ridden a motorbike in my life LOL I actually quite enjoyed the pre-learner's rider course that is arranged by the RTA and think it is VERY informative and very well run.
After I get my learner bike (which won't be anything expensive of course), I'll be doing plenty of cruising around and getting used to things and I hope to see some of you on the road or go out for a ride as a group if you have a bike as well

Now the weather will be your enemy.

Re:
It will only be for weekend fun/cruising Tony. I got used to the easy train ride to work and back and I don't think it's worth the risk getting there (city) in a bike.

Re: Another mid-life crisis adventure
Good stuff Jalal. I got my bike L's last year. Never actually got around to buying the bike though. I thought the pre-learner course was pretty good too. Did mine at Granville. Where did you do yours?

Re:
Todd, I did mine at Loftus which is very close to me. You only have 12 months max to be on the L's and you will have to do your P's test after that. Just make sure you do that or you'll end up doing the pre-learners all over again
Dave: Great idea mate, an Exy trail bike explorer LOL
Somehow I don't think I'll be getting an off-road bike, am after a more relaxed and a bit heavier Cruiser

Re: Another mid-life crisis adventure
Yeah I already let it expire. Decided the money I was saving for the bike was better spent on the exy and a camper trailer.
I was looking at cruisers too. Bit limited with what you can get on L's. I was looking closely at a couple of Yahamas. The Virago is a bit of a 'girls bike' but they are cheap and would definitely get the job done while on your L's.

Re:
You could have hired a bike from the learning centre to do the P's.
I don't think am too fussed about the "looks" of the bike at this stage, if I can find a reasonably priced one I can practice with, I'll be happy.

Re:
That's great news Jalal, I'm envious. I'm so old and doddery I'd probably fall off now.
I did about 3 courses with Stay Upright in Sydney in the early 80s. Great fun, and the insurance company gave a discount for each course. Are they still going?
Did the basic course, then about 6 months later I did their Roadcraft course (out for the day on real roads) and a posties course which was good fun.
This was me back then
