Hi from Adelaide

So I guess I should start with a big hello!

My name is Tom and I am from good old little Adelaide.

So what brings me to this forum? Well I am waiting on the delivery of my brand new X-trail.

I come from a background of European hot hatches and my last car was a 2010 Ford focus XR5 turbo. I absolutely love my car and if you had asked me 12 months ago I would have never even entertained the idea of an SUV. I have been heavily involved with car forums in relation to my cars and naturally I now find myself here.

8 months ago my fiance and I picked up our little Labrador x Husky and 8 months later and the little boy is no longer so little so our cars just don't suit our needs anymore. With plans for a family in the near future my search for an SUV started. I have always liked the look of the X-trail but knew very little about them. Needless to say that all the other competition was quickly eliminated and I found myself signing on the dotted line yesterday. I was shocked at how well the X-trail drives and how well appointed it is. I was also impressed, that unlike many other SUV's in its class, the X-trail can actually handle some decent off-road use. I managed to get an awesome deal along with a great trade in price at my local friendly Nissan dealer.

So in 4 weeks time I should take delivery of my 2012 Snow Storm TL manual diesel. I figured I should go top spec and with future plans in mind the diesel just made sense.

I look forward to being an active member of this forum and hopefully I may meet some of you one day as a fellow X-trail enthusiast.

Re: Hi from Adelaide

Hi Tom,

Welcome to the forum.

I have to agree with your observation regarding competitors not being able to match the X-Trail. Without driving one, looking at the price and specs you just can't beat it - the closest would have been the Mitsubishi Outlander but I personally think they are over-priced for what you get. Somehow the options that come with their models didn't seem to sit properly with our needs.
Then we took one for a drive - well it won both of us over straight away, and we didn't even go for a brand-new one either!

We have a medium-sized dog and he loves the back seat (as opposed to the cargo area). We have leather seats so we find putting a blanket over them gives him better grip (and also protects the seats as well). He also loves the CVT gear box - any other car and he just can't handle the gear changes...even other automatics! (poor sensitive pooch) emoticon

Cheers,
Rug

Re: Hi from Adelaide

You'll also need to fit a carpet off-cut or a rubber mat (or both) over the slippery cargo bay flooring.

Until I did so, all I' d hear was "scrabble, scrabble - thud, thud! " as the 40 Kg dogs slid around the back to slam into the sides at every change in speed and direction.

Classic example of Newtons First Law.

Once given good traction, they now seem to prefer the X-Trail to the ute.

Re:

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have already purchased a rubber liner for the back. Worst part is the car is 4 weeks away and I am already buying accessories and other bits and pieces. I purchased some of the 3D mats from evilbay as they seem functional, has anyone got a set of these?

Re:

Im feeling sad and happy emotions at the moment. 2 more sleeps and the new beast is mine but sad to see the old one go. Many features that the X-trail does not have will be missed. On that topic does anyone know if the t31's have footwell lights?
