T31 Engine Bay Insulator R1219 2.0litre diesel engine

Just sent this.
Believe it is as from tomorrow.

DRAFT Owner Letter – T31 Engine Bay Insulator R1219

Nissan Motor Co (Australia) Pty. Ltd. is conducting a Vehicle Safety Recall of your Nissan T31 X-Trail as identified below.

DEFECT:
Nissan has identified that in the engine bay of certain [sign in to see URL] diesel engine vehicles, the bulkhead lower front insulator may warp, which results in the clearance to the turbocharger being insufficient. We are writing to let you know that your vehicle falls within the range of affected vehicles.

HAZARD:
If the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, the lower front insulator may partially smoulder due to high temperature of the turbocharger under certain severe driving conditions.

WHAT TO DO:
You are advised to contact your Nissan Dealer to arrange for rectification of your vehicle. This rectification will be performed free of charge.

CONTACT DETAILS:
If you have any further enquiries, please contact your Nissan Dealer or the Nissan Customer Service Centre on 1800 035 035.

Wow Chris thats a new one. I assume your vehicle is one of the first Series III T31's? Did they give you any more info about which vehicles may be affected, like a VIN range or something?

No sorry. It is car I lease from work and they sent the email.
I called Nissan NMG and they did not know about it.
Emailed work and they said starts tomorrow.

Mine is Dec 2010 build. April reg. Has the 4wd badge.
Love it and will probably buy it at the end of the lease.

Does that mean it effects 200,403 vehicles? That seems a massive number.

Mine is within that range, so I guess I'll have to keep an eye on it. Don't really fancy giving my car back to Nissan at this stage.

When it happened to you how much clearance was between the turbo and the insulator?

Re:

So this dates back to Jan 2010.
I wonder how many cases before the recall was considered?
