Bribie Island Beach Drive

Expressions of interest are being called for a day trip to Bribie Island

Bribie Island is easy depending on tides and graded as easy to moderate but there are lots of soft sand for anyone who wants to test out their skills on the day. Beach access fee is $40 for a weekly pass, $126 for a yearly pass.

For anyone wanting to organise their beach pass before hand (recommended) Go TO this site and you can do it online or call and do it over the phone.

BOM indicates a high tide of 2.13m @ 0715 and a low of 0.49m @ 1330

Date - Sun 11th November 2012

BlackThunda Jamie - Event Leader

Suggested meet up points will be

Shell service station at Nudgee (just after airport turnoff on gateway) 8am
Bongaree Caravan Park (Permit issuing agent)
Welsby Parade BRIBIE ISLAND QLD 4507 9.30ish

Beach entry 10-10.30am

What I thought would be good to do is do a demo of a few recovery processes for the newby's and people who have not done much beach driving.

I have snatch straps and an exhaust jack that I could do a demo of.
If someone with Max Trax comes along, then we can do a demo of recovering from a bog down using these.
If some one has a good camera, we can film it and use this on the 4wd Tips and Tricks forum for all to see.

Although Bribie Island is an easy drive, as with all outings, things can go wrong so please make sure you read the below message.

****Important disclaimer, please read the event rules before coming on this trip. They can be viewed here

Re:

Yup, we'll see you at nudgee too.

Jaime, do you have a route around bribie in mind? I haven't yet explored any of the inland tracks and have been keen to do it with someone who knows the island. Do you think that could be on the cards?

Also, I don't have a radio (UHF) receiver. Is that going to be a problem?

Re: Bribie Island Beach Drive

Guys,

The Inland track - is moderate to difficult as the sand is soft and you can easily get bogged, as Loafer and myself found out on a previous run. Tyre pressures at 16 - 20lbs or lower is a must, clearance and speed are the keys to a good run. If we've had any rain, this will make it easier to travel as well.

As far as I know it is just one track into the island with a picnic stop along the way but is a good challenge.

What I reckon we do is get onto the beach, have our fun, do some recoveries and have some lunch. We can then take a drive to the end of the island and check out the track. If it's in good condition and everyone is in agreeance we can give it a shot. We'll have plenty of recovery gear so could be worth a try. emoticon

How's this for a plan?

Yup, sounds like an awesome plan. The best recovery gear is another 4by and by the looks of it, we'll have plenty of those!!

Re:

Looking like a great day - hope the weather is good.

It would be great if everyone could get their beach permit before the day as that will give us more time on the beach having fun.
