Rattle in the rear under carriage

Hey there, not quite sure where to put this thread so I hope I'm in the right spot.

Over the past 3 months I have been back and forth to Nissan with a rattle that has started in the rear right hand side. The rattle has an unmistakable ting, almost like loose bolts jiggling about close to the rear wheel. The rattle happens when going over the smallest of bumps, cats eyes even.. The beauty of it is, it's now moving to the left hand side as well..

So, my trips to the Nissan dealer have been less that helpful! They have checked over the car three times now (at two different dealerships) with absolutely no resolution. They have clearly stated that the car is safe and in no danger, however the rattle is seriously annoying.

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar situation? and if they found a resolution??

Recently a forum member has had the same issue, turned out to be a stone in the rear swing arm.
Did you use the search function?

Here is the thread.

Thanks Tony.

Yup, the search function was my first port of call. Must have missed this thread.

I'll be sure to have a look for rocks in the swing arm.

Re:

So it turns out, now that I know the problem, the problem has rectified itself!

I checked the swing arm this morning prior to going to work.. couldn't feel anything there and figured I would need the special camera mentioned in the forum link posted above.

Turns out, the rattle has disappeared!

Thanks for the help emoticon

Yeah i get the noise often mainly after going scrub. Use a piece of wire and feel around in there if it happens again.

Re:

I'm going to be looking for stones tonight! I've had a similar noise that I only hear when the window is down and driving over broken surfaces (short jolting stuff). It's a light 'ting' sort of a noise, but maybe there's a rock in there somewhere.

Fingers crossed!

Re:

Thanks Tony,

I've checked them before and they seem OK. Pulled the drivers side wheel off and can't see anything awry. I might have to get my wife to drive and sit in the back seat with the windows down and hang my head out the window like a dog :-)

I'm wondering if something is loose in the handbrake assembly....everything seems to be working fine though.

Re:

Have a look at all the wheels, a rattle is very difficult to locate exactly.
