Canberrans interested in Mt Coree

Wondering if anyone is interested in exploring the Brindabella National Park? Went to Mt Coree last weekend with a friend in a Holden Capitva and was a great day. Will post some photos up.

Wouldn't mind following Blue Range road further towards Brindabella Valley, Tumut and also Flea Creek. The Capitva didn't handle it too well, so not sure if my friend is game.

Not sure if there are any Canberra members.

If I get interest, I'll set this post up as a proper invite with the usual disclosures (a bit hard doing this from my iPad until my pc gets fixed)

Re: Canberrans interested in Mt Coree

I may be down in Canberra the 22-23 September. Possibly have the sunday free for a half day trip. Wouldn't mind being shown around the Brindabellas by a local if that suits you?
Will have to confirm our schedule but sunday is most likely at this stage.

Re:

Is Mt Coree the hilly climb with the weather station on top of it?
If it is it's a pretty rough climb from the bottom.

Went there the year after the big fires were on and took the rocky way up, nice view from the top.
Then headed down to a settlers hut where the fires started by lightning.
It was a weekend trip though.
Some really good tracks in there.

How long do you reckon the trip takes from the start of Blue Range Road, going through Mt Coree, Flea Creek and Brindabella?
I've assured the mrs it will be very scenic. Will be big trouble if I turn out to be fibbing emoticon

Re:

Scenic yes (especially mt Coree) but looking at topo, no way 1/2 day. Thinking instead of just flea creek and Mt Coree. If we go to the creek first, makes life easier as you need low range and low psi to crawl back up to Brindabella Rd. all will be good though, as my mate said he'll drag us up one of the slippery hills with his BT 50. But rather than scrambling up the hill, we can cross the creek and head over to Brindabella National Park.

I'll map out a plan.

When are you coming to Canberra? Any chance you could bring my gopro down? My brother has it and he lives in Kings Langley/Seven Hills so he could drop it off

Re: Canberrans interested in Mt Coree

So you mean we would bypass Brindabella Valley? Thats cool. How long you thinking? What start time you got in mind?
As far as climbs go unless we are talking rock steps or severe rutting there isn't many climbs that worry me.

I'll be down 22-23 Sept. No worries about the gopro. PM me and I'll give you my address so your brother can drop it off. I'll give it to you on the sunday morning I guess.

Have you got bash plates? If its wet, it'll be a nightmare. It's not actually rutted - just her muddy and slippery with a fair gradient

Re:

Ive got nothing at this point. Hopefully will have bashplates next week, if a cheque from work comes in soonish.

What time do you need to start heading back to Sydney? I think Flea Creek and Mt Coree is doable, if we have an early start... say 7:30am
