Sorry for the long departure. I was in the process of organising a trip for around CQ but family comes first and I had to take care of them first. I still have maps etc of the proposed route and camp sites so I will dig them out and try to organise soemthing for later in the year or pass them onto someone else to take over. Sorry everyone. A very nice area to play in. I wish I had low range to go play on the beach. I hope to go wandering around there again soon. But my next weekday break is over the xmas period when everyone else is there. I will be taking my kayak along to any of these parts. Additional information about the main area of 5 Rocks. It's at the lower end of the military area. Great Camping there in the past and now its restricted onto the northern end beach at 3 rivers, 9 mile and freshwater are still open but not for beach camping. The orange bowl is completely closed. Entry to the 9 mile beach is easy at least, but you may need someone with a bigger 4WD to exit the beach in many parts. nondisclosed_email@example.com (scarey77)Thu, 22 Nov 2012 17:17:43 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2068700,from=rss#post2068700https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2068700,from=rss#post2068700Just an update. I have been pretty busy of late with my work load but I have had enough time to explore the region and I have found some interesting tracks within the forestry not far from rocky with a great camp spot. Any locals would know of Stoney Creek, clear blue freshwater swimming hole and good appointed camp sites. Fingers cross I will have a maps and locations that can also be loaded into Google Maps too. Which mean you can come for a day 2 days or all 3. It will be a combo of a camping touring trip.nondisclosed_email@example.com (ozstickman)Tue, 23 Oct 2012 14:09:11 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2067546,from=rss#post2067546https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2067546,from=rss#post2067546Hey ray, we are a potential as well! Do you know how long the trip would be? Just thinking about leave requirements. Also, not sure if youve thought this far but are you planning a trip where you get to a base camp and do day trips from there or is it going to be a continual trip from point A to point E, with different overnight stops at B, C, & D? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Usdkaant)Sun, 14 Oct 2012 08:04:56 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2066721,from=rss#post2066721https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2066721,from=rss#post2066721Its been about 8 yrs since I was last at the old quarry, so i'll need to go exploring again or ask one of the guys at work who lives near there. nondisclosed_email@example.com (scarey77)Sat, 22 Sep 2012 11:38:38 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2066716,from=rss#post2066716https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2066716,from=rss#post2066716Great stuff. Now as some of you know it gets bloody hot up here in the summer time so I was thinking of a location where we can have a swim. I know of a few locations where the creek is setup for camping and swimming. I also know a number of property owners up this way that I could see if they have an area that we could play in that is not used for cropping and is too crappy for grazing. Also any fishermen or ladies out there too? I returned from doing a load a few weeks ago on a road I have never been on and went past a few river/creek crossing and the wife and I are heading that way to check them out. As for dates I am thinking either just before easter or just after. This to have nice weather and also keep away from easter crowds, also make it safer for travelling with less vehicles out there. Leaving until early next year instead of this year will allow me to suss out locations. Thats where I am up to for now. I would like to have dates and rough details by late October and have full details by Mid December giving everyone at least 3 months to schedule this trip. So with a bit of notice I would hopefully be around for a gathering. Although there is a fair bit of weekend work happening at this time of year for me (A major project on the go in Galdstone until mid December) Pick dates and location and see whats happens.nondisclosed_email@example.com (scarey77)Sat, 11 Aug 2012 20:29:36 +0000 Central Queensland - Who is interested?https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2065371,from=rss#post2065371https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2065371,from=rss#post2065371I see and have read about heaps of meet ups and trips down south but I am putting the feelers out for a CQ meet up and trip. I have the spare time to organise something if I get some feedback. Also if you are interested in a CQ meet up what would you like? Country road drive, off road, dirt roading, overnight camping etc. Really its just an excuse to get together and meet new people with a common interest.
