Re: Expressions of Interest. Mt Walker, Lithgow.
I forgot to mention this would be a dry only track for Xtrails. A wet track would just make picking the perfect line too difficult.
Along the same thought, experience is super important. If you are not confident picking your own line through difficult sections then don't bother with this track until you have more experience. It's just not the sort of track where someone can stand and guide you through difficult sections.

Re: Expressions of Interest. Mt Walker, Lithgow.
Todd & Tony,
As you say the pics mustn't do it justice as they don't show any deep ruts or large rocks and would only be difficult for an Xtrail if it was steep with a loose surface.
I would like to see more pics of the tougher sections, even if they don't show an Xtrail so that others can get a better feel for the track.

Re:
I don't have any, sorry Kev.
There were no real deep ruts or large rocks that an X Trail wouldn't make through as such rather than long climbs of jaggered rocks sticking out of the main tracks and picking lines through the bush on uphill climbs.
A good idea of track conditions would be to watch the video that Dave posted on page 2 of this thread.

That's what I was going to suggest as well and you can pretty much tell straight away that this track is off-limits for a standard exy and I reckon even a modified one would struggle through it unless piloted by an experienced driver.

Re: Expressions of Interest. Mt Walker, Lithgow.
That video is fairly accurate. The section after the first long crossing is in worse condition than the video shows but the rest is fairly similar. It did leave out a couple of the rockier sections though..

Re: Expressions of Interest. Mt Walker, Lithgow.
So far Arthur I don't think there is anyone (within reasonable distance of the track) out there who is interested, has the appropriate set up and enough experience. Tony might be able to tell us otherwise as interest has been directed to him.

Re:
The hill towards the beginning of the trip is used by 4WD clubs for driver training as is most of the track. I spoke to a couple of the instructors from the 4WD Association and they agree it is a dry weather only track in fact the last DTU training trip I was on was cancelled after the quarry hill climb due to poor conditions. However, the Navara did make it to the top of the quarry hill even though it was hard to pick a line when its raining so hard you can't see past the bonnet.
