Dunno if youve fixed this yet but try suggesting to the fitter to check the securing bolts of the Air con pump. Slide the belt off and check the pump wheel for notchyness or linear movement. By the way,if it is the Belt tensioner im pretty sure the VP commondore runs exactly the same bearing(27$) and is hell of alot cheap than our mates at Nissan,nondisclosed_email@example.com (evorock)Sun, 03 Jun 2012 23:24:59 +0000 Re: 2005 T30 - Strange Noise at low speeds or stationary when in gear. Open bonnet with engine running and look for the tensioner, if it can be seen to be moving / vibrating then this would need to checked out by a mechanic. Depending if the belt has been changed previously it maybe worth while to do this at the same time.nondisclosed_email@example.com (johnsey)Sun, 27 May 2012 21:22:49 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2062726,from=rss#post2062726https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2062726,from=rss#post2062726OK, Had a look at exhaust vibrating and it isn't that. Will have to send it in to a mechanic for the belt tensioner bearing check. It's weird, I've done some more exploring of the problem. I can't for the life of me find the exact spot and I'm now doubting if it's the compressor, although it's still heavily linked in to the air con being on. It seems putting your foot on the brake also makes some noise. In order of frequency and volume of the noise. In Park Air Con on or off - no issues In Park with Brake Pedal pressed, Air Con off - Occasional few seconds of noise, randomly. Generally OK In Park with Brake Pedal pressed, Air Con on - Noise starts of sporadic but then becomes consistent. In Drive or Reverse, Brake Pedal pressed, Air Con off - Noise but slightly softer. Usually consistent. In Drive or Reverse, Brake Pedal pressed, Air Con On - Loud consistent noise A family member has suggested maybe the water pump, as it's linked to the air con. My trouble with all these suggestions is that it doesn't happen all the time. At higher speeds it's fine. It's only when crawling or stopped that the noise starts. What bearing would only make a noise at stationary and not all the time when in use? Maybe it is and I just can't hear it. Who knows.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mattb81)Sun, 27 May 2012 08:23:42 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2062670,from=rss#post2062670https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2062670,from=rss#post2062670Just a thought Matt but check your belt tensioner incase the bearing is on its way out.You said its near the compressor which is close to it. You will need to remove the belt so you can feel it by hand if it feels crunchy its had it. nondisclosed_email@example.com (scorpion2777)Fri, 25 May 2012 20:08:55 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2062663,from=rss#post2062663https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2062663,from=rss#post2062663Hi Matt, Go under the car or put in on ramps and see if the exhaust pipe heat shield is touching the tubing or vibrating against it when the car is running, if it is bent then just let it cool down and bent it back out again away from the exhaust tube.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Fri, 25 May 2012 15:37:22 +0000 2005 T30 - Strange Noise at low speeds or stationary when in gear. This car makes a noise when it's in drive or reverse but not moving because I have the brake pressed or when it's moving very slowly. It also seems to be worse/louder if I put the air con on. The noise goes away at higher speeds, I think. It's hard to tell with other noises when you're moving. It also goes away when I put it in Park. I can't really explain the noise, it's kind of like a very fast tapping or maybe a creaking. After lots of looking around the engine I think it is coming from near the compressor. This would make sense as the noise gets louder when the compressor is on. I am thinking that the compressor is vibrating and hitting something else and that is making the noise, or something connecting to the compressor is vibrating when it's under load. It vibrates regardless but then when the air con is on it vibrates more and makes a louder noise. This is my thoughts, I may be wrong. I don't know much about the car and how it works and is put together so I am coming to you for help. What is located around the compressor? Could my thoughts be correct? Under torque/tension of the car being in first gear or reverse and wanting to pull away, could the engine move slightly and two things touch that vibrate against each other to make this noise? I just had it in at a mechanics for new brakes and he hasn't managed to fix it. Although I think he's more of a fitter and not really a problem solver. Thanks in advance for any advice.
