Re: DRLs (Daytime Running Lights)

Thanks Tomkazz,

As for the fog lights I agree yellow would be best, but I've never had much of an opportunity to use them 'legally' anyway so having the white ones as DRLs would be something I can use on a daily basis.

Will wait to hear when they come in.

Allan

Re: DRLs (Daytime Running Lights)

you're not wrong Whip.

The only reason I went with the white is to get use out of them.

I rarely see fog in the plains of Adelaide, and if I do, I'm no where near it to use the foggies any how.

I do like the look of the LED strip DRL's that I saw in previous posts, but never been a big believer in double sided sticky and wet weather

The LED strips you've seen fitted on my exy in the previous post has held-up pretty well all those years (close to 5 years now) and double-sided back of the strip didn't peel off at all. The exy is parked in the driveway all its life, so it's open to all elements.

Jalal,

That's some impressive double sided tape on them strips.

I wouldn't mind get a set. I tried looking up the seller but they don't come up on ebay any more.

any chance you would know where I can get my hands on a set?

I would like them to be as bright as yours as there are a lot of imitations out there that are just not up to the task

Re: DRLs (Daytime Running Lights)

Hi Tomkazz,

Serviced the car today with my mechanic mate and took out the broken fog light. While discussing with him a suggestion was made to maybe put spotties in instead of DRL. This got me doing some research and I'm now looking at possibly getting a DRL & Fog light combo.

Looking at the photos of your lights they're not a Fog light with the circular DRL around the outside they're just a straight DRL - correct?

Thanks

Allan

Re: DRLs (Daytime Running Lights)

I'm looking at replacing my fog/spot lights as well. I've ordered off Ebay the 3.5'' 30w white/cob LED DRL and centre projector lens light. I'm going to wire up the centre spot light to the existing switch, and the outer DRL to an automatic unit that turns the DRLs on as soon as the engine turns over. They then switch off around 25 seconds after turning the ignition off. They're a couple of weeks off yet, but I'll fit them and post photos when they are installed.

Re: DRLs (Daytime Running Lights)

Whip,

you are correct. The lights I have are straight DRL. At least that's what I use them as. They are very similar to what you see on the new buses that are getting around Adelaide.

There are a few different combinations available with DRL/Spot combo online, unfortunately I haven't any experience with these and can only go by pictures.

Back in the day when I had my outlander, I bought a set of foggies from an ebay store called Bling Lights and they were a 2 stage light. Stage 1 was the halo effect and stage 2 was the fog light. They came standard with a H1 globe so I swapped them out for LEDs which worked a treat.

The main draw back for me was that fact they cost $110/pair.

At the time of ordering my LED foggies the limit was set at $50.

Maybe in the future I'll be brave and order a set (when the boss isn't looking) as a sample to see if the seller is willing to come down on price.

Re: DRLs (Daytime Running Lights)

Jalal,

I do believe this week will be approx 2 weeks since I ordered the DRL foggies.

There is something at the post office for me but I won't get there till Wednesday night to collect.

Will update the moment I get a chance.
