I washed the car today and hosed them with water and soap, so I will tell you tomorrow if they are still there when I check them in the morning 
They're held in place by double-sided 3M tape.

They held up very good and didn't get affected by washing the car and even wiping them clean with a soapy sponge, all systems go and I put another set of them on my Mercedes now as well 
I reckon they will look even better on your black exy, as they won't be noticeable at all in daytime when not lit, as the LED strip itself is black.

Do DRLs come in different output LEDs on the strips .I imagine you would want the brightest you could get otherwise they would be useless for the intended purpose.If they do what is the best output LED to look for.

All of the DRL SMD LED strips and lights are bright enough to be quite noticeable in daytime. The 8500K colour ensures they are super white as well.
