Re: Not fixed!

the dreaded noise has started again, lubrication only helped for a few days.

Looks like the bearings are shot. There is a little bit of play in the motor shaft but I didn't really think it was enough to be the problem but it seems it is.

Does anyone know if the bearing can be replaced on a T31 blower? I notice the service manul says it is balanced in the factory.

New blower fan motor from Nissan is $580, and the wrecker I called said they didnt have a blower for a T31 only a T 30. I'm tempted to have a crack at separating the bearings out since it looks like I will be up for a motor regardless. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be welcome.

Re: Blower fan noise on T31

update 2

The noise returned after about 4 days following lubrication of the bearngs.

So today I visited the local Nissan wrecker in Brooklyn here in Melb, (recommended), and got a used blower for $125.

Put that in and she's quiet as a mouse.

Fingers crossed thats the end of the problem.

Thanks again Jalalski for our help.

Good stuff and $125 is not that bad for a 2nd hand blower.

Re: Blower fan noise on T31 - success

I had the same problem (plus a major smell!!) so decided to follow the instructions on this thread and pulled out the aircon filter and then the fan blower. Bit of an ordeal and effort with a few scratches and splits in the rubbish plastic panels but worth it when I removed a rather large dead rat from the blower casing who I think had been previously residing on the engine and made its nest out of chewing up the lining under the bonnet.
I wonder how it got in there, ah, the joys of living in the country. In future I will leave the bonnet up at night, as iously rats like the bonnet lining. I will also have to replace the aircon filter as it also smells pretty ratty!

Re: Blower fan noise on T31

My problem is not identical to this one, but similar in that the suspected part is the blower fan.

The symptom is that whenever I turn on the fan, I hear a "clicking" noise, which matches with the speed I turn on the fan at (faster = more frequent click).

I am quite certain there are leaves in the blower, that have gotten there through some intake somewhere - I'd had the problem before and nissan, upon inspecting during my regular service, removed shredded leaves from somewhere in the AC system.

Do you know how easy/hard it is to access the blower fan? I've seen the diagram previously posted but have no idea what to do with it.

Can a novice like me do it and not stuff up the car? Or do I have to get some help from the dealer again.

Also, how widespread is this problem? Do other people also suffer this or is this a defect with my car?

Re:

Any body could do the job.
I would recommend a breakdown sheet of the blower motor and instructiuons of how to remove it from the car.
As long as you put everything back the way you found it, it should be OK.
Save yourself some dollars too.

Re:

Had the blower fan motor die in my car and was quoted $600 or so from a/c mechanic to fix who advised they just get a blower fan motor from Nissan spare parts. When i rang the local Nissan dealer I was quoted $[sign in to see URL] for the motor.

Part number for the motor was 27225EN000, and apparently superceded with part number 272251VA0E.
Looks like i'll be pulling the car apart tonight to inspect the motor and to confirm the part number, then hunting around at the wreckers for one.

Re:

I found that part number (272251VA0E) at Amayama delivered for $[sign in to see URL]!
Thanks for that, I wasn't getting a hit I guess I had an O instead of a 0.
