Re: QLD & NSW Meet 7-9 October, 2011 (Registration Closed)

I'm currently at North Beach/Mylestom 25km south of Coffs Harbour. It's cold and raining and miserable, and we've had a couple big storms in the last two days, and a bit of rumbling with lightning outside right now. Check the weather here and here.

All this should be over by then, and with any luck we will get glorious sunny days, like the one I arrived to, but bring your hot water bottles just in case, or your rum. Not that bad weather will stop any of us.

I'm not much good on trivia either, although total and utter trivia is an entirely different matter - should we have a team of the hopeless??

Countdown 6 sleeps. I should be there early afternoon. See ya all soon. emoticon

If you haven't already done so please send your names, X-Trail model and colour, forum user name and X number to me by email. I will be printing the name tags over the next few days. Also if you can identify the gender of any names I may not be familiar with to ensure that I get everything correct.

Re:

Ok,

Just to wet everyone's appetite Wendy and myself made a very quick decision Saturday morning and decided to head for Woolgoolga!

So we booked into a cabin and headed off to find the track we were looking for a couple of weeks ago and found our way around and located what we were chasing!

Also checked out beach access as well and while coming back to the cabin we had a roo jump out directly in front so as I was trying my best to slow down we hit it around 80km an hour and next thing you know fur was flying and I mean just that!

Also the spotlights went from checking the road ahead to searching for drop bears and then came the thud from under the front where the roo's tail hit the bash plate!

Bugger me I nearly crapped myself as it happened all to quick and once we came to a complete stop the first thing I checked was the temp gauge and then made a exit out of the exy to investigate the damage!

The first thing I saw was the nudge bar had been tilted back towards the bonnet resulting in the bonnet protector getting smashed and once I leaned and pulled the nudge back into position I then grabbed a torch to check out under the bonnet for radiator damage and found nothing had been taken out!

What happened to skippy we are still unsure as he could not be found!

So we made a quick be line for the cabin and thanked our lucky stars that the bumper only got a small crack in it!

I would recommend the local RSL for dinner on Friday night as this would be family friendly and if interested for a great coffee check out a place called the beach house located in the center of Woolgoolga as this is where Wendy and myself are heading Sunday morning for breakfast and they cater for vegetarians as well!

Leaving the caravan park this morning we located a small beach that we can drive on but it is only about 1-2km long but would have room for the 19 X-trails and also requires no pass to get on!

Also have to check out what time low tide is a s well and has heaps of room for kids to run around and have a swim(if warmer) and for adults to chill out or just have a drive around!

Really looking forward to getting back there again next week end!

Regards Scot

P.s The track that has been selected will be suitable for all levels of experience and highway tyres can handle the terrain I am sure!

Re: QLD & NSW Meet 7-9 October, 2011 (Registration Closed)

Thanks for the "quick appetizer" post Scot and am glad you are ok after that accident as it could have been much worse.

In regards to local beach access, it seems the Coffs Harbour map does show 2-3 4WD beach access points near us as seen HERE, so maybe we can ask the locals about them.

Can't wait for Friday emoticon
