T31 Series 3 & 4 Eclipse Head Unit
Hi Guys,
Those of you with a Ti or TL Series 3 & 4 have the above head-unit/GPS fitted.
Can you please let me know if the head-unit DVD feature operates when the car is in motion or if it has been linked to the hand-brake switch and will only operate when the car is parked?
I hate this "safety" feature to be honest, as my wife likes to watch movies on long drives and I'd rather have her watch movies than my speed
If it is linked to the hand-brake, has anyone disabled it yet?

Re:
It shouldn't be too hard to disable it Jalal, at least you will know where to start looking.

Re:
Thanks Adam,
So, is it a matter of disconnecting that wire to the handbrake to enable the functions or is more electrical work required inside the head-unit?
I am sure this will drive me nuts when I get the car and I don't think Nissan would accept wiring it any differently for me for "safety purposes" of course.

Re:
Thanks Greg
By the way, does the Eclipse head-unit have a video/audio out jack/port if I wanna hook-up the head-rest monitors to it to transmit the same video/audio signal?

Re:
Excellent Adam,
I hope the Series 3 and 4 Eclipse unit is the same, which I think it is.
The installation manual confirms that there is a video out plug for an external source and there is also audio out.
This thing seems to be region code locked to Region 4 DVD discs, which sucks big time, as most of my favourite movies are on Region 1 discs I wonder if there is a region hack for this Eclipse head unit which can unlock the region coding?
Also, does it play DVD-R discs OK or is it sensitive to them too?
I hope my Series 4 comes with the latest maps.
