Tyre Bead Locking System Has anyone fitted a bead locking system?
I bought a set for my front wheels after the 3rd time rolling a tyre off the rim and paying $280 for one that was ruined. I know you need to drive slow on low pressure but we have a lot of really soft sandy beaches where you have to gun it through deep soft ruts and then make a sharp turn to get up off the beach.
The instructions and the product looks good as was the advice from the manufacturer but it is tricky locating the best spot for the second 8mm hole in the 17 inch T31 rim. You need a fairly flat spot and the most obvious choice just inside and opposite the tread won't provide enough clearance from the brake caliper. I am going to get an aluminum fabricator to drill the hole but I need to mark where it needs to be. If anyone has done this before and can tell me where that would be great.
Re: Tyre Bead Locking System I think it's an unnecessary expense personally. Don't deflate your tyres lower than ten Psi as lower than this you risk breaking the bead.
