Keep an eye on your headlights and indicators

Hey guys (ok typed this all earlier but for some reason it didn't seem to post so starting over) As some of you may know I work for the police. Tonight whilst at work I did 4 reports for stolen headlights and indicators for Exy's between 04 and 06. Anyway I do reports like this all the time usually for a commodore, but as I am an Exy owner this made me sit up and take notice. After doing a bit of a search we found 17 reports had been put on over the last two weeks. Now normally when we take these sort of reports it forms a pattern and is usually happening in a particular area ie Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast district or similar. This however does not seem to be forming a pattern and is scattered throughout QLD. Normally it is either the left or right headlight sometimes both but always both indicators. The majority have also been 05 models. Why the 05 model I don't know, but thought I would give everyone a heads up anyway to keep an eye on your babies. Whats to say they don't expand their years and start heading after 09/10 models etc. Hopefully non of our cars get hit. Roxy

Re:

Thanks for the heads-up Roxy, but it is strange indeed.

Did the report say how did they manage to open the bonnet to get to the bolts holding the headlights and indicators?

There is nothing special about the '05 T30 headlights either, all T30 models have the same headlights and indicators. I can only relate this to cars being damaged in the recent floods and/or storms and some owners wanting a quick/free fix, hence the thefts.

Considering the price of a 2nd hand set of headlights and indicators for the T30 is so cheap, it is pretty stupid to be stealing them indeed.

there were two reports where police have said the bonnet has been damaged by an implement possibly a crowbar trying to get the bonnet open. All we could put it down to was a quick fix or possibly reselling on ebay.
