Bullbars & Nudge Bars under threat by the Federal Government
Hi Guys,
I have received a couple of emails from local 4WD businesses expressing great concerns regarding the Federal Government intention to apply stricter rules and prohibit some vehicles from having a bullbar and/or nudge bar fitted to align with European standards regarding pedestrian safety (yeah, we had this argument before...didn't we!!)
Anyway, most 4WD business are now asking for your support by undertaking an online survey the results of which will be presented to the government to make their final ruling on this.
The survey can be found HERE
Please take a moment to voice your opinion on this and make a stand!

Re:
I too just finished the survey but is the nudge bar covered by this banning.
The survey never mentioned anything about nudge bars, bull bars only.
To my understanding they only want to get the information to know how we use our bullbars so they can redesign a newer bullbar for pedestrian, animal, driver and passengers.
They have been talking about banning the current styles of bullbars for years and sadly it's only a matter of time untill they do, no matter how many surveys we fill out.

Re:
Tony,
The ADR rule the government is trying to modify applies to all vehicle frontal protection systems and this includes bull bars and nudge bars.
If we take your view and just ignore this type of behavior by the government, today they will succeed in banning the bull bars and tomorrow they would want to limit the use of 4WDs and SUVs to off-road and country roads OR slam us with higher registration and insurance fees....you can clearly see where this is heading.
These surveys are an additional ammunition for the authorized 4WD corporations and spokes people to fight on our behalf and prove the case that some standards are just not realistic and can't be aligned with Europe!

I thought you all might find this interesting. Apparently the government is planning to ban bull bars. Not too sure of the specifics or the validity of this, but I have been emailed a link today from reputable sources.
I'll leave you guys to make up your own mind, but here's the link:
