T-30 service issues at 70,000k
We love our T-30, but over the past few months we have spent so much money on our car. Currently have 70,000 k on the car, at 60,000 we had to change the rotors $700.00, 70,000 new blower motor (Nissan did pay half the motor) $450.00, took car back today as fan speed number 2 does not work, to be told by Nissan that this has nothing to do with the blower motor and not covered so another $120.00 to fix this, but when the car went into Nissan fan speed 2 worked? Also wheel bearings need changing at $70.00 each plus fitting. So is anybody else having issues with T-30? As I said we love the car, but spending this amount of money on car 3 years old is over the top.

Re: T-30 service issues at 70,000k
Hi Andrew,
Sounds like the Xtrail has had a bit of a hard life before you got it.
My rotors got 120,000kms before being replaced BUT I am always light on brakes with my vehicles, always getting comments from the service guys about how long my pads last for in an auto.
The bearings could be in the same situation as the brakes ... just wear and tear from how the Xtrail was driven.
The blower motor and fan speed controller are known on this forum to be things which can fail and usually happen in Xtrails from very hot climates as the aircon is used more intensively in those areas.
I would say after these you should have some good years ahead of you.

Re: T-30 service issues at 70,000k
Hi Andrew,
A bit of bad luck run with your exy, considering that you bought it new.
Having the rotors changed at 60K is a bit early indeed, but it depends on how the car is driven and if you tow something heavy with it.
The blower fan and the fan selector switch problem is a known one with the T30, especially if the fan selector switch stays on the same speed for long during hot weather. This problem should have been covered by warranty for sure.
Bearings (front ones) are best replaced at 100K service, so yours went out a bit early as well.

Re: T-30 service issues at 70,000k
Andrew & Jenny, I've had my exy since October 2005.
At around 25,000km it developed a rattle which Westco in Cairns dismissed. By 35,000km a friend (muffler & exhaust specialist) had diagnosed a problem with the muffler and Westco finally admitted the problem. At the same time both front wheel bearings needed to be changed. All done on warranty.
I've always had a problem going from first gear UP to second. In spite of this the gears are like silk and way better than other vehicles I've driven. After 5 years I've more or less gotten used to it, most of the time.
For a while there I was feeling a bit depressed about the warranty work so early.
At 90,000km the right wheel bearing had to be replaced, again - and there was an indication it hadn't been done properly the first time. At 100,000km (just on warranty expiration) I found the catalytic converter had disintegrated, and probably had been in that condition for a while. These were fixed on warranty. I had a battle with the dealer in Darwin over this, but my original dealer on the Sunshine Coast spoke up for me and made it all easier.
I also had a problem with the fan blower, but it turned out to be leaf litter.
148,000km on the clock now, and she's turned into a thoroughly reliable vehicle. I can't imagine driving anything else, I can't even imagine parting with it to upgrade to a new model diesel. She's taken me backwards and forwards between 3 states (Qld, NT, NSW) several times and hasn't missed a beat.
It is definitely worth checking out different dealers.
I reckon you'll get past these glitches and you'll forget about them in a few more thousand kms.
