centre cap for steel wheels without hubcaps

I'm contemplating removing the hub caps off my X-Trail but don't want to leave the nut exposed in the centre of the wheel. Does anyone know whether there are generic or x-trail specific centre caps available to cover the bearing nut? I haven't checked with tyre places yet but Supercheap and Repco don't appear to have them.

Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian,

Measure the centre hole in your rim and then search for "Nissan Hub Caps" on ebay with the same diameter. I think 58mm is common and there are plenty of nice ones with the Nissan logo emoticon

I don't think it's that easy Kev as the centre bolt is protruding further than the circle in the hub as per one of the photos you posted previously.

The nice centre hub caps on eBay are meant to attach to the centre hole of the alloy wheels, not the actual hub.

And that is what Ian wants ... to cover the centre hole in his steel rims instead of having the nut exposed through it.

Re:

Am pretty sure the hole in the steel rims is wider than the centre hub circle, so the standard alloy centre caps won't fit and the centre hub nut would still prevent them from being attached.

Hi Ian,
Not sure if they will fit, but you can get dust caps like the ones you find on trailers from any auto shop.
By memory I think they are a 48 or 49mm diameter.
they are only cheap so if they don't fit, its no great loss.

Re:

only thing i can suggest is you go to ford and get some of their dust caps for their steel wheels. been around for ages and are still fitted to the current FG utes with 16" steelies. yes they should fit as both cars PCD is 5/114.3.

Re: centre cap for steel wheels without hubcaps

Thanks for the ideas guys. The falcon centre caps look to be the go but the trailer ones would probably be more affordable. I'm going to do some research on prices and availability and let you know how I go.

Also some of the falcon ones are actually small hubcaps that go to the outside of the wheel nut circumference.
Actually, I think most of them are like that.

Re:

thats is correct Tony, they are secured by the wheel nuts also which makes them very hard to pinch
