Re: Removing T30 roof racks

I want to temporarily remove the front (factory) roof rack on my Series 2 T30, but it seems to be held down with some sort of special "security bolt" ?

Looks like a in-hex or torx, but with a pin in the middle ? .... so would need some sort of hollow hex or torx bit to undo it.

Reason I want to remove it, is so I can mount a Z-bracket for a UHF aerial under it, like this .....

(this is an old bracket I had floating around, but you get the idea ..... ).

Any brilliant tips on how to undo the bars ?

Re:

It's called a security torx head and you should be able to get a set containing a bit for one from bunnings, jaycar or other hardware store

Re:

Thanks for that.

It seems Rola also have the appropriate tool available for purchase, so I might go that way if I can find one (rather than buy a whole kit of bits I'll never use again !).

It will have to be an "expedition" anyway ... I'm well over an hour away from a half-decent hardware store.

Only other quick fix would be to drill the centre pin out, I guess, but that's probably a bit agricultural !

Re:

You can buy a small set of torx keys for around $15.
Not sure about the T30 but the T31 had torx screws all over it.

Re:

It's actually a security hex and as previously mentioned easily obtained in a set from Bunnings or Jaycar
