Factory Tyres - How Long??

Hi There,

Anyone give any suggestions on how long a set of factory tyres would be expected to last on a 2009 ST-L Xtrail (Petrol)? They are 215/60R17 96H tyres.

Thanks

Lindsay

Depends on a few things mate:

1. How hard you corner.
2. How regulary you rotate tyres
3. How often you check the tyre pressure

and more.

It's not a simple answer and there is no magic figure one can give you.

Re: Factory Tyres - How Long??

My 2005 T30 had Toyo Tranpaths. Had 3 sets - Originals lasted about 35,000km, another set lasted 25,000km, another about 32,000km (I think).
BUT, someone else got 50,000km. I don't thrash my exy, but I've done a lot of miles in a short time.
Too many variables - look after them using correct pressures and rotating when its due.

Re: Factory Tyres - How Long??

Our T30 II is only at 65000km (we picked it up a year ago with 43000 on the clock!) and it is still running on the original Toyo's. My father in-law has been involved in motor racing for a long time and told us to run the tyres at higher pressures to improve their life (40F, 36R). This combined with a very attentive wife, who checks pressures basically whenever she fills up, has worked a treat. I'd say we are pretty avg drivers - we look after the car, but don't particularly baby it. I don't think it had done much offroad work before we got hold of it. We expect to get maybe another 5000km out of this set though we are looking at new tyres now (as indicated by my other posts emoticon)

Re: Factory Tyres - How Long??

We only got 32000 out of the stock Dunlops. The local tyre shop said somewhere between 25 and 40 was normal for those tyres emoticon

Admittedly we do a bit of towing with the CT.

Soooo I put some coopers on. Lets see how long they last.

Re: Factory Tyres - How Long??

My previous tyres were Cooper CS4s and I got 50,000km.
Mostly highway touring, with an occasional bit of dirt.
Met someone from Mareeba who got 80,000 out of hers, which included lots and lots of gravel roads.
Who can tell.... emoticon
