Sudden gear changes
This problem seems to only be happening when it's cold, first thing in the morning, once warmed up seems fine, but it does take longer for the CVT to warm up than the engine.
When I start going up a hill, 60kph, the revs increase as the CVT changes up ratios, before settling at 2500rpm, then half way up the hill the revs suddenly drop to 1250rpm for a second or two causing a sudden slow down in speed, then abruptly jumping back up 2500rpm causing a sudden increase in speed again, and as you can imagine a rather rough ride.
It also happens when accelerating up gentle hills from a standing start at 40kph, sudden drop in revs slow down in speed then sudden increase in revs and off you go.
Wondering if it's related to the "Loss of Power" thread.
40000k service coming up shortly will mention it and see what they say.
Peter.

Re: Sudden gear changes
Hi Peter,
It doesn't sound like a problem to me.
It could be that it can't make up its mind on what gear to use on that gradient of hill.
The oil in the box being thicker first thing in the morning could be adding to its erratic changes.
