I have a 2012 ST and am considering a Swan Outback. I am also concerned about the weight issue. Can any one update the info in this thread? So remove the 50Kg for fuel in the original Calculation. It is surprising, but true, how little load you can carry in the X-Trail (and many other cars) when towing and taking into account the extras. I barely have enough left over for the wife and a small suitcase!!! Overloading is easy and a trap if you have an accident and want insurance to pay up. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Translucidus)Tue, 22 Apr 2014 22:59:39 +0000 Weight calculations when towing Jayco with T31 CVThttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2044507,from=rss#post2044507https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2044507,from=rss#post2044507I'm considering buying a Jayco Swan Outback and I'm trying to work out the weight stuff. I've read through the Towing info on this website and had a good look at the towball weight instructions on the door sticker in the car. So here goes and let me know if I'm missing something here.... The CVT tare weight comes at 1554 kg and the Gross Vehicle Mass of the exy is a maximum of 2100 kg. So let's start from there: GVM 2100 occupants 330 fuel 65 liter 50 accessoires 50 (nudge bar, bash plate, roof bars & empty roof pod)            --------- left over load 256 kg Now comes the trailer part that will effect the load as well because of the towball weight. Jayco Swan outback tare weight: 1150 kg and the Swan OB GVM is 1450 kg. This will result in a towball weight of (roughly) 120 kg with some smart distribution of the weight. Let's say I load the Swan with a gas bottle, 25 lt jerrycan, 85 lits of water and then supplies, accessoires and I'll pretty much hit the 1450 kg mark. So 120 kg on the towball means according to the door sticker you'll have to substract approx. 100 kg from the GVM of the Exy (100 kg towball = minus 60 , 150 kg towball = minus 150 kg). With that in mind, in the end you'll have 156 kg to load the Exy to it's weight limit. Is this or What do you think and what is your opinion of these calculations? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Precious Time)Sun, 01 Aug 2010 08:44:23 +0000
