Fuel Gauge inaccurate after Fuel Filter Change

I changed the in tank fuel filter on the t30, I did not bend the float, just removed the old filter and put the new on one, had one bar of fuel when did this. Turned the car on and now nearly at full tank? when I filled the car completely the fuel gauge needle goes through the roof! sits above the full line? what's going on?

Re: Fuel Gauge inaccurate after Fuel Filter Change

I would pull the fuel filter back out and check not in this particular order:

1. all the cables/plugs are back on securely, there is one inside the assembly from memory, this 'might' be givng false readings.

2. float is not jamed and is still making contact with the sender unit and is facing the right direction.

3. filter is completely sunk into the housing, if not it sits deeper than usual this 'may' explain the higher level reading.

Serge,
Have you aligned the mating marks on the assembled sender unit correctly when you re-inserted it into the tank ? A copy of the instructions for this follow.

Re: Fuel Gauge inaccurate after Fuel Filter Change -Solved

thanks for your help fellas. I assembled everything correctly and seated the bottom part of the assembly to to top completely (the tabs locked on the catch) I took both fuel senders out today and played with the arms. everything seemed to be O.K I put everything back together as instructed in the repair manual (I have the digital Nissan one on CD) p.m me if anyone needs it. Turned the car on and same dilemma

It figures that when I pulled the sender out with the fuel pump and filter assemby, when I put it all back together the float arm was sitting on top of the fuel hose inside the tank (the black one) therefore preventing the arm to move around freely! What a pain in the backside. All resolved and thanks for your input fellas!
