Re: Pulling to the right when accelerating

Yeah mine is only from 0kmh through the first geear or 2 under power. With a bit more than slight drift left under regular driving. 200m your off the road if your not awake.

hmm, what part of the gov't did it come from. There are cetain gov't cars that I will not buy comsidering how we drive them.

More info than most people want ahead.

Do not buy a car from any of the electricity GoC's, it may look nice but drive like crap.
Health is certaintly not much better.
Teachers maybe one of the better ones. And a few of the ex police cars have had mods done to them. (my last car was one of those).
QR cars are worse then electricity corp cars.
Councils, all depends on which one really.
Reg gov't cars are ok. Low kms nothing special done to them, also very little that had to be done would have unless it was allocated to one person only and they chased it up to be fixed.
Ex- fleet cars tend to be decent. Due to the people are paying for it them selves and will look after it. Most of the time they buy it out to resel privately but some find out they cannot and let it go to auction. Those are the good ones to get. However more higher priced than the Reg gov't cars with one allocated driver.

Re: Pulling to the right when accelerating

It was ex-fleet. I've bought ex-govt cars before from Darwin, and they provide details of where / when / why the car has been, so I weed out the bad ones emoticon

Well, since the bearings were done (see this post) I haven't noticed any major pulling. Only a slight pull to the left from stopped, exactly as you mention.

Re: Pulling to the right when accelerating

hey guy,s i too had a torque steer problem after changing the Tyre and wheel size going from 15 inch to 18. I noticed it when accelerating from lights but not slowing down.having just had the tyres replaced i checked the pressure at 40 psi to (high) i gradually reduced the pressure to 32 psi, problem solved no more torque steer hope this helps

Re: Pulling to the right when accelerating

I did suffer from torque steer from the Dunlop OEM tyres for the first thousand km or so in the new car on the new tyres.

At 10,000 km on the same tyres, I find that now the front wheels just give a "chirp" rather than giving torque steer when the accelerator is applied over-enthusiastically, so I suspect the unsettling handling aberration has more to do with the tyres than with the car.

Back then, the lateral pull was a bit unsettling when booting it to overtake.

These days, it simply doesn't happen.

Re:

It will still be there and always will, it's just that you have got used to it.
When tyres are new they grip like nothing else, as time goes by the compound gets a little harder explaining the chirp you mentioned.

Re: Re:

Cooch, you are right.

It's probably a combination of 'less than brand new grip" and unconsciously compensating for how the SnowBeast behaves under duress.

I can only hope she does the same for me emoticon

In any case, it is no longer a surprise response. More like a null response - I don't notice it, even if it still does exist.

I did find substantially less torque steer feedback after playing with tyre pressures.

For me on the 17 inch Dunlop ST 20's I've found 38 psi front and 36 psi rear (barely warmed) works better for me than the originally recommended 34 psi all round..
