Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti owners

Bit the bullet and got the 2013 Q2 update.

One strange thing I found while travelling from Bathurst to the Blue Mountains was that the Speed Cameras hadn't been updated. For anyone that knows the area the speed zone from Hartley to the Mt Victoria pass was reduced from 90kmh to 80kmh about 12 months ago, but still shows as a 90 zone; also there has never been a speed camera at the top of Mt Victoria pass but the 2010 Maps and the current version still show one as being there.

The strangest thing of all though was the Point to Point Zone on the Highway between Kelso and Mt. Lambie did register in the new version. This definitely wasn't in the 2010 version. Unlike the speed cameras where the audible tone sounds until you've reduced speed or passed the camera, the point to point one was continuous regardless of whether speed was reduced or once past the camera. The only way to stop it sounding was to switch the speed camera setting off and turning it backing on did not start the warning sound again, even if the speed limit was exceeded.

Has anyone else come across this with the latest map upgrades?

Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti owners

Dear all,
I have just got around to checking out the map version on my 2013 T31 TL. The only info I can find is on the SD card and that says 2011! Would that mean that my maps are two years behind the build date of the car (I'm thinking so..)? Do any of you have any experiences with this business?
Cheers,
Phil

Re:

Yes Phil that is indeed possible and according to Nissan it's normal for them to sell brand new cars with outdated maps!

Re:

When I bought my Ti late last year, on the drive home I was told there was a round about where there hasn't been one since late 2009 and the street next to me is missing (and I live in Brisbane in a suburb established for over 30 years). I brought it up at the 1 month service and the 6 month service and was told both times they are looking in to it. Since then I've found at leasst two dozen errors in only 13,000km. Today at the 12 month service I was told it was $485 to update. So I walked in to the dealership and cancelled my order for a Patrol. Nissan will never see my car or my future business ever again! And considering we have 14 Hilux in our fleet that I have been tasked to swap to either Ranger or Navara I'll take great delight in following through with that statement too! So, so very poor service from Nissan. Very, very dissapointed and peeved off right now!

Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti owners

Can I ask those who might know, the map version is what is written on the SD card, yes?
I have looked into the menu and can't seem to find a version in there anywhere.
Cheers,
Phil

It should tell you the map version when you insert the SD card and view it using the Naviextras Toolbox.

Hi Jalal,
Insert the card in the GPS, or my computer?
Cheers,

Re:

Your computer Phil. Just download the NavieExtra Tool onto the desktop of your computer, as you gonna need it to back-up the data of your exisiting SD card and you gonna need this tool to upgrade to any future version of the maps.

Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti owners

Naviextras are an absolute pain-in-the-rear.
I have "3 year free map updates" with my new X-Trail (fitted with Eclipse GPS) but every time they release an update, I can't download it.
I write to their Customer Service only to be told "You already have the latest maps".
Why then, as the current example, does their website show 2013 Q4, yet when I plug-in my SD cars it shows that I have 2013 Q3 maps?
This mob's an absolute hassle to deal with...and of course, Nissan says "It's the manufacturers problem, not ours"!
