Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti owners

Gary I see you have a 2010 model. What map version do you have. The latest version is Navtec Q4 2009 which was released in May this year. As for 'sharing' updating the maps is a two part process where you insert a SD to extract data from the head unit and then download files to the SD card. I think this step stops 'sharing'.

Now the Google have free navigation with street view and spoken street names for Android phones and possibly the inferior iphone emoticon, maps for our devices may drop in price.

PS Don't get Nissan to update the maps they are a blatant rip off.

Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti owners

The map on my eclipse is the 2008 Q3 maps. Had i known about the issue of the slackness in updating the maps April this year before the vehicle was delivered from the dealer, I would have insisted they put the most recent map on before I got the car. While going over the non-existant new section of the Gateway near bridge is a novel situation, there are a couple of other locations where the current 2008 map is obselete which irks me. As for getting Nissan to do the upgrade for $300+, there is no chance of my getting that done whatsoever.

I've just finished a 5 week trip around France & Italy after downloading some Copilot maps for the region to an iPhone 3GS for about $75. Despite the drop in prices I have seen lately in maps by alternate providers & some of the new portable GPS devices being touted as coming with "3 years free updates" etc, I won't hold my breath expecting price to drop. I'm afraid they have us by the short & curlies.

Price listed on the help pdf http://www.eclipse-web.com.au/update/step02.pdf is EU129.95 - hopefully it is a stuffup & US$ rather than Euro, otherwise the map would be about AU$185!

Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti owners

I paid $152.63 Aussie dollars. Back then I am sure it was $129.95 US dollars as our exchange rate wasn't as good.

The new section of the Gateway has been updated, but not the exit to the airport? Even though the maps are 2009 Q4, they appear to be accurate to about Q1 2009. Can be very frustrating. I have started to look to see if I can use another map, but no luck at this stage.

I really like the head unit, sound is great and does everything I want, except the lousy out of date maps.

Re:

Hi Guys,

I came across THIS website which seems to suggest that Q1.2011 January maps are available for download for IGO8. Apparently these are the very latest version.

The download links are being updated everyday and it's free!

Strange indeed, this re-direct wasn't there yesterday, someone is hacking the GPS Underground website it seems. Hopefully it's a temporary thing.

Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti owners

I managed to download the files before the website changed. I will compare those files with the ones I purchased last year to see if they are comparable and if so I will give the update a go.

Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti owners

I managed to dl the AU/NZ files, but i have no idea on how to update the Eclipse as the normal method is by using the Synctool,
(see http://www.eclipse-web.com/au/avn726ea_mapupdates/step01.html & http://www.eclipse-web.com/au/avn726ea_mapupdates/step02.html) & Toolbox to download the map files.

Adam, if you could jot down procedures on how to upload the maps manually to share with us on the forum (or pm) it'd be mightly appreciated.

Re:

The maps I was able to download from gpsunderground don't match any of the files I downloaded when I purchased the maps last year. I did a bit of searching and came across this forum. http://www.austech.info/igo/50047-how-do-i-get-maps-work.html Looks like we need to hack the gps unit to get the maps to work.
