Because my X-Trail is 2012 Ti T31 Series IV, I need to know what GPS Unit is Factory fitted and what is the Map Update procedures for it. I have no desire to have Nissan Dealers perform this Update as I have heard thaey have some very fancy golden prices for this service. Being as I am a Computer Tech, I think I may be able to perform this service myself.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Nasho23)Mon, 07 Jul 2014 14:40:37 +0000 Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti Series 3 and 4 owners (Eclipse Navigation Units)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079751,from=rss#post2079751https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079751,from=rss#post2079751Thanks for the tip Mark I used the icon about 27 million times last week on the F3 while heading up the Central Coast. According to the NAV there were speed cameras on the F3, about every few kms, or at least that's what it 'sounded' like. Don't know what's happened with the MAP upgrade, but these didn't exist in the 2010 version. I almost thought the unit had ESP at one point where it indicated there was a speed camera and sure enough there was a Highway patrol car doing radar! Unfortunately after that it couldn't do it again. I travel this route quite a lot and the interesting thing was that a lot of the locations where the NAV indicated there was a camera are often where Highway patrol cars sit doing radar?? Sounds like the twilight zone! While I generally like the fixed speed alert I got so sick of it going off on this trip that I did resort to switching it off, which is disappointing considering that it is only occurring with the latest map upgrade. nondisclosed_email@example.com (whip62)Fri, 06 Dec 2013 10:56:57 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079303,from=rss#post2079303https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079303,from=rss#post2079303Interesting from whip62 about the average speed cameras in the 2013 update - I have a few of those in the Canberra area on the South side so I might give it a run and see what happens! I too found the speed limit alert annoying and disabled it, but I use the fixed speed camera alert all the time. The good thing is that it alerts you to its presence and you can easily silence the alarm by simply touching the camera icon on the left when it appears. Only found about that recently! A godsend.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Exywarrior)Sun, 17 Nov 2013 23:42:57 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079282,from=rss#post2079282https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079282,from=rss#post2079282That speed limit alert drives my nuts, so I disabled it all together on mine. Most of the time it picks-up the 40kms/hour school limit speed zones even though am either passing the school zone on weekends or after the designated school zone speed limit time. It's useless.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Sat, 16 Nov 2013 18:22:36 +0000 Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti Series 3 and 4 owners (Eclipse Navigation Units)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079281,from=rss#post2079281https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079281,from=rss#post2079281Hi all, I previously posted in relation to the 2013 Q2 map upgrade and have since had time to see exactly what the point to point speed camera set up is all about. I've travelled a speed camera section on the Great Western Highway a few times now and found the following: When you pass the 1st camera it locks on the Eclipse display show the speed that you passed at; During the trip between the 2 cameras it continues to monitor your speed continually updating the average speed; Once the average speed exceeds the speed limit it then sounds the warning sound and doesn't stop until you maintain a lower speed for a period of time to reduce the average, pass the second camera OR switch the speed camera selection off, which resets the unit and removes the camera image from the display. Although it is annoying when the sound locks on it really is interesting to play with. While travelling west I hit the Mt. Lambie camera doing about 90kmh behind a semi. Once I got around the semi I set the cruise control to sit on 104 and could see that the average speed continually recalculated gradually increasing to the point where the speed warning sounded, then I had to turn if off though because I couldn't sit on 100 as the average had already crept above. I'm still confused about how they have been able to update this in the latest version, but still have incorrect speed limits and non existent cameras!!! nondisclosed_email@example.com (whip62)Sat, 16 Nov 2013 12:28:51 +0000 Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti ownershttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079124,from=rss#post2079124https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079124,from=rss#post2079124quote:58phil wrote: but are we talking the same language here? I have no idea how the maps are updated in the new Nissan Connect System (with around view monitor) and I think we should open a new thread to deal with that system to avoid any confusion. Thanks for pointing this out, as I completely forgot about the AVM system in the Series 5. This explains why Bill mentioned the upgrade of the SD card, because it is completely different to the upgrade procedure for the Eclipse navigation maps! A lot of these posts are to do with the eclipse unit and upgrading it. I have been keen to find out if my Series V 2013 TL is the latest version. Jalal has kindly directed me to the Naviextras site. Trouble is, I believe my system is the Nissan Connect Audio with Navigation and the SD card, and the manual, clearly state don't put the card in a PC. Updates are via a new SD card thru the dealer. (according to the manual). Now I'm no technical ludite but are we talking the same language here? Or is my current model T31 different to what you guys are talking about? Each dealer has been given a link where they have to go and get the activation code for the new maps, they get charged (probably by Nissan or Eclipse) $320.00 bucks for each activation code download which they have been instructed by Nissan Australia to pass-on to customers! The dealer then adds an hour labour (or $165.00 bucks in the case of this dealership) on top of the above price which brings it to an astronomical total of $485.00 When I showed them the upgrade instructions posted on the NaviExtra website they had no idea they even existed. Most dealers agree that the requested charge of close to $500 bucks is simply ridiculous! I think I should quit my job and go do GPS maps upgrades for Nissan, given the number of cars they have sold with out-dated maps, I reckon I'd be all set for retirement by the time I finish LOL nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Fri, 08 Nov 2013 16:42:38 +0000 Re: GPS map upgrade TL and Ti ownershttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079117,from=rss#post2079117https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2079117,from=rss#post2079117Naviextras are an absolute pain-in-the-rear. I have "3 year free map updates" with my new X-Trail (fitted with Eclipse GPS) but every time they release an update, I can't download it. I brought it up at the 1 month service and the 6 month service and was told both times they are looking in to it. Since then I've found at leasst two dozen errors in only 13,000km. Today at the 12 month service I was told it was $485 to update. So I walked in to the dealership and cancelled my order for a Patrol. Nissan will never see my car or my future business ever again! And considering we have 14 Hilux in our fleet that I have been tasked to swap to either Ranger or Navara I'll take great delight in following through with that statement too! One strange thing I found while travelling from Bathurst to the Blue Mountains was that the Speed Cameras hadn't been updated. For anyone that knows the area the speed zone from Hartley to the Mt Victoria pass was reduced from 90kmh to 80kmh about 12 months ago, but still shows as a 90 zone; also there has never been a speed camera at the top of Mt Victoria pass but the 2010 Maps and the current version still show one as being there. The strangest thing of all though was the Point to Point Zone on the Highway between Kelso and Mt. Lambie did register in the new version. This definitely wasn't in the 2010 version. Unlike the speed cameras where the audible tone sounds until you've reduced speed or passed the camera, the point to point one was continuous regardless of whether speed was reduced or once past the camera. The only way to stop it sounding was to switch the speed camera setting off and turning it backing on did not start the warning sound again, even if the speed limit was exceeded. Has anyone else come across this with the latest map upgrades?nondisclosed_email@example.com (whip62)Mon, 04 Nov 2013 13:19:30 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2078604,from=rss#post2078604https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2078604,from=rss#post2078604Yes it does.
