Sherwood Reserve Anzac week-end 2010

Well what a week-end it was!

Manage to get some time off work on the Friday and departed for Woolgoolga NSW at around 4pm!

We traveled the Sumerland HWY to our destination which only took 4 hours.

Found our exit for our accommodation and found our cabin and settled in for the nights rest!

Saturday morning we knew the tag along had been canceled so made plans to go to the reserve and have a look around ourselves!

Well we certainly found our way into some great tracks and thought we were following the map by the road names but came out totally different area to what we wanted but had a ball with all the wash-outs and 1 fallen tree which was a easy one to get over!

Here

It was worth the effort and we had so much fun that we did not get much of the action!(can take anyone down there if interested)

We snaked our way thru some more ruts and came across a creek crossing which was a little soft on the base but was well worth a go!
Doing a test run to check depth

The run across

Had a second go

Sunday we had breakfast with the locals and then headed out on a couple of scenic roads which was nothing to thrilling as the previous day.Image

We took a track up to a look out which was reasonably rutted but easy ways around them if needed.

We ended up at a local pottery place in the afternoon and the lady there gave us a mud map to follow for a scenic 4wd road!

So off we went and boy duck creek road had nothing on whoa boys like we came up on this track.

Up and down

more up and down

Found a small area to have lunch and then continued on our way.

Before too long we came across a sign that stated the road was closed ahead and then decided to go have a look!

Well they were not wrong by any means and so it was only one choice but to go back the way we came.

We had a ball on this trip and around the 18th of May we are heading for Grafton and have already scoped possible tracks for us to explore if the tag along gets canceled.

We did not get too many photos or vids but still had a ball.

Regards Scot

Now I'm really upset I spent a couple of days laid up in bed with the flu instead of heading up the coast. Might have to head up that way next long weekend......

So many fantastic tracks to explore there Alan emoticon !

The June week-end is taken up for us for the caravan show here in Brisbane!

Looking for a camper van to tow behind the exy!

Will be definitely down that way even if it is not a long week-end as the tracks are really worth the effort!

Regards Scot

Hopefully they'll be as much choice in camper trailers at the Brisbane show as there was in Sydney, although I hope you'll have more success than Phillipa and I did with your search. 12 months down the track we have a long list of what we don't like, a short list of what we do and none on the list of what we'd buy.

However, we did find a caravan to tow behind the Navara, now I've just got to get the boss to send me to South Africa for 6 months so we can pay for it.
