Re: Face-lift for the T31 X-Trail

The CVT in the Murano is different to the X-trails, but still the warranty extention that is given in the USA and Canada would be nice for Australian consumer confidence in the product as it covers all CVTs in all models. The CVT in the Xtrail is the same as the one in the Outlander(3l v6) which is interesting as it has a 5 year warranty so someone else trusts its durability.

It is unfortuate CVT gearboxes have a bad reputation and much of it is probrably undeserved. Peoples opinion on how the CVT drives is just that (an opinion), the CVT not being a traditional automatic means it takes time to get used to and often new things gets bad reveiws from people who are scared of change or want to see failure.

I also have a theory on the failures that have occurred in the CVT are servicing and oil based, and not a manufacturer fault but that will be posted in the appropriate thread after more research.

Re: Face-lift for the T31 X-Trail

You could be correct with your theory about improper servicing of the CVT, but for the same car to experience upto 3 CVT box changes one after the other in a very short period of time indicates a bigger problem and it could well be related to assembly.

We can discuss this further in the CVT thread to keep this one on topic.

Thanks Rob,

I still can't believe Nissan are not including the front fog lights as standard on all variants emoticon

Are those lights on the rear bumper or did the refectors do their job?

$100 X 8,000 units sold = $800,000 loss of profit. Add to this any other bits left off and you can see every cent saved by a manufacturer go's straight to the bottom line.

Reflectors reacting to the flash.

I just drove by my local Nissan dealer and these T31s are all over the place in the yard, they had the black one as shown above and the twilight Ti with headlight washers for the Xenon option. No change to the rear bumper at all, still a huge sand scoop emoticon

In a tough market competition with other car makes and manufacturers where every single bit of add-on and accessory can make a world of difference, I don't think this figure will impact on Nissan at all when compared to the added interest it can generate (am not only talking about fog lights)

Re: Face-lift for the T31 X-Trail (Series 3)

No Series 3 in South Africa as yet, but the part number for the tail lights came up in the computer just no pricing as yet. The sales guy at the dealership was interested in the forum so I'm going back on the weekrnd with the laptop as they have no internet access.

Don't know if we have any South African members but I;m sure Jalal can confirm that.

At least the ST gets a chrome grill now.
For some reason, those rear tail lights don't appeal to me, I don't know why that is.
